Ill let you know when it gets here! He's finishing up the manual gearbox harness, hopefully ill have it in a few weeks.
Awesome. Shoot me a text when you have it and I’ll bring some beer. I’ll need one for my build too!

Hey Ikarus, can you do me a favor and measure yoke to yoke, from the transfercase to the front and rear differentials?

That way if I want to go ahead and order from tom woods ill have some measurements to go off of.

Thanks!
Yeah no problem. Might be a little bit til I can get to it, don't know if you're in a rush?

I assume you're using a HF2AV transfer case?

Correct, didn't feel like shelling out another 3-4k for an HF1 and hubs and all that. Lol.

No rush, it'll be a few weeks before im even close to getting it all put together.

It would be better if you worked directly with TW to order your shafts. There may be differences on his than on your rig which could cause binding or vibration. No 2 trucks are exactly the same.

They'll only need your bolt pattern spacing, lengths and driveshaft angles. Once you order them you'll have them within 3-5 days depending on where you're located. They are easy to work with and will guide you along the way, their customer service is 10/10.

Dang that was pretty quick. Things are about to heat up in this thread 🍿

Decided to quit being a lazy fat ass today and get in the garage and check some more off the list.

Got the main fuel assembly out, you have disconnect the emergency brake cable, and take off the exhaust heat shield. Not to big of a deal, going to get the feed line setup as a return line for the fte tomorrow I think.

As a backup plan im trying to source the late model 1997 1hdft main fuel line assembly. I believe that will be the 12mm feed and 8mm return, shipping may be absolutely killer on that though. We'll see.

Drained the gasoline out of the 80 tank, I should've drove it around more before I starter tearing it apart. Oh well lol.

Made sure the diesel tank tube assembly fit and bolted in, it did with no problems.

Next ill try and get the fuel filler tube off so can knock out the insert so I can get the diesel spouts to fit.

The gasoline fumes have also reduced my remaining braincells from 3 to 2.

I title this, sketchy s*** no one should do! Filler tube is done, im lazy and didnt feel like lifting the body to pull the tube, disconnected it at the tank, which has already been drained, stuffed a rag in the tube tank side, used a dremel with a cut off wheel, and some metal shears, kept cutting pieces out and folding it in on itself, ziptie to make me feel better because i wasnt sure what the flapper looked like. I also used wet paper towels to catch debris and to keep things nice and cool as I was cutting.

Boom, shes out. Now to flush the tube 25 times and then hit it with air, ill flush it with diesel before first start up as well just in case.

Removed the 1fz-fe gas pedal, and throttle cable. With that, i think im done taking parts off the lexus.

Debating on what to do with the 1fz engine and trans , might keep it around for a 60s series project in the future.

60 on an 80s series frame seems pretty slick.

So I've been curious about this step - the idea here is to hawg out the assembly at the top of the filler neck so a larger dia diesel fuel pump spout will fit?

Classy move with the diesel specific fuel cap by the way - still taking notes.

My lady asked what I'm going to do with the old engine when it's out, and I said idk I may keep it - yep, she think's I'm sick in the head. Probably true.

Yeah, that's pretty much it, I bought a dremel off amazon for 100 bucks for this specifically, it comes with 3 metal cutting wheels, you just cut around the circumference of the metal insert that holds the spring and the little flapper? Shutter? That the gasoline spout goes into.

Once it was fully cut all the way around, I took a screwdriver and was able to bend the insert towards the inside of itself, then cut with metal shears, repeat those steps a few times until you're able to pull it from the tube.

I did flush the tube first with about 2 gallons of water to make sure any residual gasoline was out first.

I have a buddy who used to love shopping for used guitars. He'd find things all the time that were the kind of thing he didn't necessarily want, or he already had, but he'd send me links saying, "Someone should buy this." 😆 I got some amazing deals on guitars that way.

Long way of saying, if you find any deals you don't necessarily want to jump on, but someone should buy it, you can absolutely send them to me. I'm not necessarily seriously shopping for a 1HD yet, but you never know when that "too good to pass up" deal is going to come along.

Tempting, IF there was some double cabs left, I'd probably throw down to be honest lol.

Well, I went ahead and opened the check book. Should have a H152 Kit here in a few weeks, what started out as a somewhat poor mans project, has swiftly become a project that's made me entirely poor, pretty sure the wife will lock down all finances after the swap is complete. (Just kidding she's been super supportive).
You will never, never, regret this decision. EVER. One item I would humbly recommend to change in your build is the stock clutch and flywheel. I went with the NPC one from HD Automotive in Australia. Granted I am running a pretty high boost set up on my 1HDFT but I was pleasantly surprised how smooth the engagement and easy the pedal pressure was. In addition, if you decide to upgrade your turbo and/or injection pump you will have a clutch that's capable of handling the extra power. If not, you have a smoother revving flywheel and a clutch that will last a very long time.

Thanks for reinforcing the H152F, lol. I think this is something I'd love to do, but it'll probably be apart of an upgrade package I put together down the road. Once it get it running, driving feeling out the build and it's quirks and solve them. I'd like to be somewhere around 250-275whp.

I'm just not ready for the investment that requires yet, neither is my wallet. 😅

Got a few options, the R's are rough, but 4081, and 3076 show potential.
