Well, I hope that I did not offend. I was just trying to do something to help the community (and to be honest myself too).

I think it's still worthwhile to look into. Even if we only get $200-400 knocked off, I'd be happy with that.

So is the Magnuson unit carrying a CARB cert?

- or is a TRD unit still the only kid on that block?

I've still yet to install my TRD, and we don't have CARB here.

I don't think you have but talking to vendors at this point is kind of a fishing expedition.

what I personally would do.

get people to commit to the $3850.00 price and collect the money to be held in escrow.

Now when you are talking to vendors it's a real deal.

Look for other ways to use the numbers to help save money outside of the vendors wallet such as shipping and distribution.

Buying a pallet of SCs shipped freight to a terminal and then distributing them yourself is not only cheap but saves the vendor a lot of hassle.

Of course the location of that drop off point and the final destinations will determine the savings.

Good luck with what you are trying to do, it can be a lot of work.

I have been getting prices from vendors and so far so good. All prices are coming in above the MSRP number that was mentioned earlier. Got a few leads on better deals, so patience may pay off.

Again, if anyone has leads, let me know. We have almost 20 individuals signed up now.

Why mess with a vendor and not just go straight to magnusson? I don't think it would be much of a stretch to say an order of a dozen units would be exceptionally substantial when I'm sure vendors normally buy single pre sold units at a time. Talk to magnusson and try to negotiate a price based on people paying for units prior to production or at least a deposit, I think they would be very amicable to that.

If you emailed them and said "hey we want to buy a dozen units" I doubt they wouldn't at least work with you.

Great idea....

Seems like it would make more sense for someone that owns a shop or part store to set up such a deal.....

So who has a shop or a parts store that can contact at Magnuson that can do this?

FYI,

As Landtank mentioned, the issue I am finding is that to get the best price, the vendors can drop ship a pallet of SC to one address straight from Magnuson -- thus they have very little labor or costs.

The issue is that I really don't want to set up some escrow account - seems like too much trouble and additional costs. I also don't want to hold people's money. I am a CPA, and our standards are such that I don't like to have the appearance that some fraud could ever happen.

Don't know the answer yet.....

I think you're belittling the power of this purchase. Has anyone tried contacting Magnuson and simply saying "hey there are about 20 of us that want to purchase SC's for our trucks, we want to buy them directly from you". Tell them they don't have to ship or even commission the product, doubt they have them on the shelf, until whatever amount of units you guys designate are paid for or reserved.

Just cut out the middle man get the price you can. Although I wouldn't be surprised if some of the middle men we deal with are making very little profit on it anyway, they are good guys like that.....

There is ZERO profit on SC's. Even when they were available from Toyota. I think we were making like $15-20 per unit.

Pretty much a gift.

This is the only online source I've been able to find currently show the SC available: Underdog Racing Development

I emailed magnuson last week about availability with no response to date. They don't show anything but products for domestic offerings plus one AMG on their site.

I have prices from 3 vendors now. Join up folks.

I am getting bids with the agreement that I will not post up names of the vendors. Pricing is around $4k.

We broke under the $4k mark. I just heard that Magnuson is going to have a price increase in February, so I am going to set a close date on this group buy.

PM me your contact information, as I am going to move this to email correspondence if you want to be part of it.

Email sent out. PM me if you did not get it.

I called Magnuson a few weeks and ordered one directly. Worked with David in Sales and Jennifer in Finance (first time customer so she understandably had to make sure I wasn't full of sh**) and they were wonderful to work with. Didn't get any group-buy discount at $4,200 but I now have in my possession one official, formerly unobtainium, white label TRD supercharger made by the same OEM, Magnuson. FWIW - I'd spoken to CDan back when the US dealers had 6 TRD units in stock and decided I had plenty of time to keep dragging my feet. Decided to not make that mistake again.

Now I just need to get the hood/fenders vented and the top end rebuilt.

The entire Engine and Cooling System need to be brought up to like new spec's, IMHO. Good Luck Everyone..! :worms:

Funny, I must have talked to LC Engineering a long time ago about the supercharger because they just called me this week to tell me they're now available and ready to ship. I don't even remember the conversation and I have since moved on to a turbo setup, but it's nice to see these coming back to the market for real and not just talk :)
