The fic 8 is based off their series 2 hardware so it is the newest best stuff. I think the FIC 6 was the old hardware.

What problems are you having?

Are you sure it's not the tuners? I have a couple thousand miles on mine with zero issues and better than Oem gas mileage, same FIC 8.

Maybe you can send me your calibration and I can take a look at it?

Was worried you wher going to have issues with that.

Hope the ProEFI works out, I have seen less than steller results from them. If your shop is good with them then great I hope it works out.

Lilevo,

I think that part of the reason you're having no issues is that your injector size and MAF housing size are very close to what the stock system proportions are, while I am using a 540cc injector and a 3" housing post intercooler, so there are a lot of fueling adjustments that we have to do as well as MAF adjustments. I won't deny that it might be the tuners, but aren't you still having the same issue with going overly rich when the truck kicks over to open loop? I know that you were talking about using the URD controller to handle that.

Like I said it isn't a terrible system but to me it just isn't "perfect" like I feel it should be. Just imagine how nice it would be to be able to set AFR's, boost levels, timing, and not have the stock computer fighting it.

Jeremy,

What systems have you seen that you would recommend? I am not looking for Motec levels of engine control nor do I think the 1FZ-FE has the technology to benefit from something like that. Haltech might me an option.

Transgo shift kit A343F

After talking to a couple transmission shops and hearing most say, "well we could probably do it but we have never touched one before" I decided to borrow a lift at EMS Powered and tackle this job. At first I was planning on doing it in my garage but I will say I am glad I didn't. While the job is not hard, the directions leave a little to be desired and an extra set of hands is invaluable!

I had to do it twice, first time took about 4.5 hours with a lunch break but since I missed a very simple step and my reverse was now a new forward gear I got to do it again, lol. The second time only took about an hour and a half. Have lots of paper towels on hand, and plan on wearing some ATF!

But on to the good news! This is an amazing upgrade!! I feel if you add a power adder, either supercharger or turbo, or V8, and you don't do this you are doing it a huge injustice. I would even seriously consider this for a truck that tows.

I went ahead and drilled out the 1-2, and 2-3 shifts with the larger (.090") of the recommended bits because I was having pretty bad slipping. If you are supercharged I would stay with the smaller hole.

Installed or well partially installed Slee's skid plate. The rear support and the EMS powered exhaust want to occupy the same place so I will need to get the rear brace redone.

I also installed a first aid setup. Using an ih8mud member's bracket. Great setup, easy to get to, normally unused space! Very pleased.

I've got that same kit hanging on my cargo barrier. A really extensive kit, just missing a nurse/doctor in it to use some of the things they include lol.

oh yeah, updates on the turbo, tuning, mileage, future mods/needs. thanks.

Yes I am really happy with it. I was going to go the size smaller but I found a great deal on this one the same price as the smaller one and just picked it up. Yours didn't come with a hot nurse? I guess I got a better deal than I thought!!

Sorry missed your reply. Yes a Haltec Sprint 500 (if it has enough outputs) or a Vipec V44 ( would say V88 like I had but maybe a bit overkill).

I really like the Haltech stuff but there isn't anyone around here to tune it.

We will see what happens. I am currently unemployed with the government shutdown. Lol

Yeah they are great systems, easy to set-up and tune. You really need to buy what ever system your tuner is good at and make sure you get all the details up front from him. As standalone is only as good as the tuner.

Sorry to hear about the layoff, do not follow US happenings but hope its taken care of soon.

Yeah I agree, plus this shop gets great support from ProEfi, they are good friends with the ProEfi guys. Things as simple as pulling the crank and cam profiles with an oscilloscope and sending them over and getting an answer in 25 min. Hell I have emailed AEM 5 times in 3 months and they don't even bother to reply. And AEM's forum for tech questions is a joke. Some of those threads have been up there for a couple years with no answer.

Oh you are better off not following US politics. We just have some power hungry politicians halting work for all government workers, and government contractors. Hopefully it won't last too long.

AEM is s*** plain and simple, the only reason why they where so popular back in the day is because they where cheap. I learned my lesson save 2k on Standalone spend 6k rebuilding engine that said standalone destroyed.

I would not touch ProEFI with a 10 ft poll mainly because I and my tuner are not buddies with them. My tuner tried to do two cars with it after being sold buy one of there guys at SEMA. Needless to say the support to get the engines working after was far worse than AEM. It resulted in the ProEFI's now being used as door stops, the AEM's that where being used as door stops in the past had worn out.

I think if you have someone like it sounds like you do lined up for ProEFI give it a shot.

It sounds from your description of happenings down there things have changed little since I did follow them.

More info on that rear pillar bracket. Pics or where they are available.

Cool thanks. That spot would be good for some gear to hang. Thinking paper towels or something needing quick access.

Yeah I agree, I have had the bracket and kit for 8+ months but I finally got around to throwing it in. I like the idea of having a first aid kit up off the floor so you don't have to dig through bags, or gear to get to it.

Last piece for my front suspension from those guys in Golden was waiting on my door tonight. Very high quality looks like another homerun for Slee and total overkill for my needs. Lol

Those dampers have too much travel for the GTR even if you set it at rally height.
