oh look, how cute, the electrically driven coolant res for the extra battery.
I had to post somewhere this morning. This is all I could find.

I'm just trying to figure out how I'm going to mount a fridge back there and not have to climb in to gain access? Or loss access to the cubbys and jack storage.
That set up is obviously absurd so fingers crossed that's not how it ends up. I mean seriously, they can't be that dumb and clueless. Right? RIGHT?

Is the LC250 not on your radar because of this exact issue?
In part, but also because I prefer the looks of the 550 overtrail, eKDSS, what should be better tech/creature comforts.

Not really interested in dumb compromises like this relative to the price. Now that I think about it, with 33” AT’s would the 550h really get more meaningful fuel economy than the non-hybrid? Towing capacity is probably significantly lower than the TTV6 anyway?

It’s too bad the rear door opens upward and isn’t engineered to bear the weight of a spare tire. Some sort of factory swingout, barn doors, or tire mount would allow the battery pack to be mounted under the floor in a heavy duty enclosure also lowering the center of gravity.

If aux tanks are fine back under there, why wouldn’t a battery “tank” be fine back there? The battery in the rear floor is the biggest fail/compromise and reminds me of my gx460’s third row seats. I hated how much space they took up and removing them to install a platform or drawers looks so unfinished with how the trim is all designed.

Now that the hatch is motorized, would it have been impossible to use a strong enough motor and struts to lift and hold the spare?

Saw this on another site…the Gx550h. Come on TMC, the battery pack layout is the best you can come up with?

Possibly, but remember Toyota is likely designing for the cheapest, most practical usage scenarios for the masses, none of which involve a gas can or tire on the back. This is despite being marketed toward heavy off-road use but being designed to just look cool going to the grocery store and mall and picking up the kids from private school.

Think of all the press release content, videos, and the "AMA" video showing the 2024 LC..hardly any pavement (none in the initial 50 sec release video)

At least the GX550 release video showed some yuppie, rich AF millennial types hitting up a mixture of dirt and pavement on their way to mountain-top soirée.

Interesting use of compartments at the 35 second mark. Wonder what that mini Lexus grille thing is….

Bluetooth speaker lol?

Just be glad Toyota didn’t do what Chevy did with the blazer…….

You should thank the Defender.
Now I don't know how long ago the 250 design was frozen but big chance it was after the debut of the new Defender.

The Defender as hated as it is by the old Defender purists is a HUGE success sales wise and everyone wants a piece of that retro/modern offroader pie.
The 250 will outsell it but I imagine if it wasn't for the new Defender we would have gotten a mediocre new Prado design.

The good thing about Toyota is they do notice what the market wants sometimes and they do deliver. It takes time sometimes they are too late but sometimes the stars align and they come out with a home run like they did with the 250/252.
