I remember when we used to complain LandCruisers didn't have enough cupholders, now we are upset over extras.

FAwker... you just made me spit up on my keyboard.

Thread summary...

one thing I also noticed
the base model with steelies seems to have narrower black plastic fenders
Maybe I am seeing things but it looks like it from the reflection.
Not unusual for the Prado to have a narrow vs wide version, even if in this case its very minor.

tundra does that too with the 'pro' flares

Looks narrower, but could be the shadow.

Still, the white base spec on steelies with clear glass greenhouse is 🤌🏻. Wonder if it even has roll windows.

Local Lexus dealer had a pre-production unit on display this past weekend. Went down and crawled around it, sat in it, and drooled on it. I was pretty darned impressed.
Which trim level ? Many complaints about cheap interior and assume that you don’t agree with the assessment ?

There was no sticker to see and the sales folks knew slightly less than nothing.

Nicely appointed. Wife and I both liked it. Two tone seats, cool box (which I could do without), tons of bolt on "hey look at me" crap

I keep trying to get a good idea on whether cargo capacity is correct on spec sheets. Seems like Lexus has revised certain specs several times now (e.g. towing, width, top speed). GX specs say 90.5 cu ft for overtrail with second row folded, and the 4Runner is 89.7. I’ve heard YouTubers say the ‘behind the second row’ cargo space is large but I don’t think I’ve seen many compare it to the 4Runner directly. FB groups have people saying it’s larger than a 4Runner and smaller. Same goes for the 460 vs 550.
Back when I looked at 4Runner specs in 2015, Toyota specs used to show the 5th Gen 4Runner cargo capacity at 80 cu ft with 2nd row folded, same as the 200 with 2nd and 3rd row folded. Remove the 3rd row in the 200 and you've got more cargo capacity. So it does seem like Toyota has changed how they measure cargo capacity.

Reactions: LCQ
Do you think the production versions of the LC250 and the 2-Row variants of the GX550 will have cupholders in the cargo area?
I suspect that the GX550 will have cupholders in the cargo area, whether you buy a 2-row or a 3-row. Plastic molds are expensive. Having two molds, one with cupholders and one without, plus having to inventory two different parts, would be a needless expense.

I'm not quite sure why you would care, though.

Makes no difference to me but we need pointless things to argue about online while we wait for them to hit dealers.
Fixed it for you.

I'm not quite sure why you would care, though.

On previous generations of Land Cruiser, specifically the 100, Toyota had different parts for the different trims (even here in the US).

For instance, the cloth seated, no-third row 1999 I had didn't have overhead grab handles in the cargo area or third row seat mounting locations. It also didn't have the rear HVAC bulge out as well not having cupholders in the rear cargo area. Another difference was it had solid-mounted rear quarter windows. Further, my rear cargo area trim panels had storage cubbies where the cupholders were - not to mention having just a little more storage space.

Even the 200 series had different rear quarter interior trim pieces for third row vs no-third-row. As I'm sure you know, if you remove the third row there are some aesthetically displeasing holes in the trim where people have come up with solutions to plug.

Because of these differences, drawers, fridge, overhead shelf required a bit more thought to mount or install. Certain vendor-made items just wouldn't work at all due to the differences.

So, knowing that Toyota appears to have really consolidated parts is noteworthy in my opinion and standardization appears to have really been a focus to cut costs.

That's fair. We won't know for sure until we start seeing them in dealerships. I suspect that the 2-row and 3-row will have the same parts, but that's just a guess on my part. Time will tell.
