Thats what I just said I had trouble with. Its a pain to get out of the can, then its a pain to mix it and then its a pain to spread. All because the fiberglass just makes it clump.

Maybe you were using the short fiberglass version but this has the longest strands of glass and I think that is what makes it difficult to work with.

Hmm...must be for patching big holes.

Yeah thats what its designed for. Like I said I am just bondoing the stuff that will either be replaced (door) or be cut out (rockers) but the stuff that is going to stay, like around the wheel openings I am cutting a welding.

Today I got everything set to put the engine in tomorrow.

I got a nice PM from cruiserparts and they are going to send me a free door as an apology for the frame issue. I am happy to say that I will once again buy parts from cruiserparts!

Engine is in! A big thanks to lowtideride for all the help trying to figure out my tranny crossmember problem.

So currently I have the engine in and the front suspension done except for the 2 bolts on the steering box. My body mount bushings should be here in 3 days.

A little story. I took my gas tank out to make jacking the body up easier. When I took it out I didnt disconnect the fuel lines completly and they broke off on the tank. I thought, I could just get that part, well its rusted on there and wont come off. So I thought maybe my tank recall hasnt been done yet, guess what it hasnt! So I thought this could work out pretty well. So I called the dealership and talked to them, they said they would call me back. So they called back today and said it would take 1-4 weeks to get the parts!!!! I was told its probably going to be closer to 4 weeks!! The guy there said "well we dont work on that age of vehicle much so they probably dont even have the parts and if they do it could take a while"

Has anyone else had this problem? Or does this dealerships service staff just suck?

i just had the tank recall work done on my 60. I can see how it might take a little longer to get the parts to VT, but 4 weeks seems excessive. My SC dealership had the parts in less than a week and they had to order the tank twice becuase they got the wrong one the first time.....most dealerships do tend to take their time with warrenty work though. probably best to try and get the tank back in so you can drive the truck in the mean time.

glad to hear you got the motor back in!

Where did you order your body mount bushings from? I have been looking and they seem really expensive. Keep up the good work, looks like your alomost there.

4crawler.com has urethane body mount bushings for $130.

VTcruiser I broke the solid lines out of the tank so I cant put the old one in. I was fine with the week. My plan is to have it done by the 1st of August since I get my License on the 31st of July!

If it doesnt work out I have the part you need. Its new too ;)

You will more than likely have to clean up the little screw with a wire brush and use vise grips to get them off.

Worse comes to worse I can send you a whole fj60 tank.

I will let you know. Doing a little more digging at the Toyota dealership to see if it can be done sooner. If that doesnt work I will probably need that part. The thing is, I have some sort of long range tank. I have no clue what company it is but it took the place of my spare. So the part might not be the same and the stock size tank wouldnt fit (I wasnt going to tell Toyota that little detail)

You sure of this. The fj60 tanks are pretty big and flat, located above the frame rails and right above the spare.

got a pic?

Let me see if there is a camera in this house.

Nope no camera. Maybe someone else could snap a picture of their stock tank and I could compare it. I just dont understand why the person would take the spare tire carrier out unless they put a bigger tank in. Now I have to figure out how to fit a 33 on the side mount carrier that the PO installed in the cargo area.

Good news!! The parts will be in next week!!

Project60 I didnt ask. I figured since it was a recall they had to do it.

have the rear suspension in yet? you should probably have a rolling chassis if toyota is going to install the tank

Tom, D'animal was supposed to send it last monday. The plan is to have it all ready to drive when we bring it to Toyota so that they can put the tank in and the I can fire it up and drive it home.

sick. so before karl drives back to montana?

Soooooo the fuel pick up comes with the new tank? worth checking into.

Thats the plan.
