Well today was the day. We worked for a while yesterday and a lot today to finally have the body back on the frame. We used a trike, yes a trike to move the frame to the body. Then once we got to the limit of the trike we put down some lumber and made a little track so we could rest the frame on a skateboard and roll it into position. One thing to remember is that the transfercase shifter isnt straight so you have to poke it through the hole then move the frame back. So it will be a lot of work to reach my goal of having it done Thursday so that on Friday Toyota can put my tank on and then I can drive my cruiser!

Its to dark for some finished pictures but here are some during pictures.

Today I got all the electrical and vacuum likes connected. I got my front all put back together I just need to finish the brakes and clutch then I can put the hood on. All I am waiting for is the leaf that D'Animal sent. Then I can put the back together and bring it to Toyota to get my tank installed then everything should be done.

Anyone have any good suggestions on how to get my dealership to install my tank sooner? They have all the parts in now, but say they cant put them in until Monday. I havent made an appointment yet and I am going to call tomorrow. Do you think that I can say that its a safety recall and that it should be high priority since its a safety risk? Or anyone have other ideas?

Nope same color but its not a cruiser color, I guess one of the POs had it repainted. Its in really good shape so I assume that its a professional paint job.

Today I got it started. I got my exhaust installed but sadly its not as loud as I had hoped because I still have a cat. But tomorrow I am going to get my rear axle in and get everything bled. Now that I have my license it makes it a whole lot easier to go and get parts. Although it only helps when there is a car around to use.

I got the rear axle on. So now its sitting on its own and I think it looks pretty nasty.

Uh oh, I just realized I still havent done anything about my steering box yet, there are only 2 bolts holding it in now.

Well just a rant in my thread.

So i had my cruiser towed to Toyota on Tuesday to have the tank recall done. I went in Monday to see about towing and I was told what the company was and that the guy at Toyota would call them and then call me to set up a time for the tow truck to come (didnt really make sense to me). Well they never called and the tow truck showed up on Monday night before I was finished bolting the body down. I told the truck driver that Toyota was supposed to call and set up a time but they never did. The driver said that it was no problem and to just give them a call a half hour before I needed it towed and they would be there. So I finished it up that night and called the tow truck first thing in the morning. They finally showed up at 11. The towing was fine. Later that day I went in to check it out and see how stuff was going. The guy behind the counter tells me that they didnt get it until 12 and that it wouldnt be done today. So I said well the tow company took forever to get to my house. That wasnt bad. Today I get a message exactly what he said "I'm calling about the Land Cruiser there seems to be a problem" I was like well why dont you tell me the problem?!?! I had been planning to go in there today and see how it was going. I get there and he says "you got charged twice for towing." I said "what?!?" and I explain exactly what happend and he argued with me for 10min trying to make it my fault that he didnt call like he was supposed to. He decides that he is going to call the tow company. He did that and comes back in an even worse mood mumbling to himself. He decides that its the tow companys fault that he didnt call, I wasnt going to argue with that atleast he decided it wasnt mine. So I told him that I was going to pick it up tomorrow. But he starts doing the paperwork and hes now in such a bad mood I dont really want to tell him to stop so he then moves me to another person for me to pay. It was $230 I explained how I didnt have that much with me and if I could just pay tomorrow like i had planned. She goes and gets Ray (the guy thats in a bad mood) he comes out "what do you mean you dont have money?!?" in an angry voice. I responded "I didnt think it would be that much and I told you I wanted to get it tomorrow." He says "well you can do that" me "ok thats what I want to do" Finally I just got sick of it and left. I have been to this dealership 3 times and everytime this guy treats me like dirt. Tomorrow I am picking it up and I just cant wait to see him again:o

Rant over. Sorry if some of that doesnt make sense I'm not in the mood to read it over.:o

I would tell you to give him a piece of your mind, but it wont do any good.
Some people dont know that good customer service is worth more than the nickles and dimes. Taking a moment to look at a situation with care and sparing your coustomers the martyr(sp?) bit goes much further. Particularly when the customer owns a 20 yr old car + or -. Chances are you will need to come back, but now maybe you won't even if it takes longer or costs more.
His (or his bosses) loss.

Its always good to have people think the best of you no matter what you really think of them.

Dont waste your energy holding on to it...liked the rant tho.

That rig looks amazing Landcruisin'60. How was the 62 frame swap? Was there anything different with the body mounting procedures?

Nope all the same, too bad I didnt beat the current record of 5 days, I only went over by about a month once I actually started the swap.

I drove home from the dealership, the brakes seem weak even with the 4 runner calipers. The steering wanders like crazy and just an FYI dont let one of your brothers friends put the steering shaft in, when I'm going straight my wheel is turned way to the right.

I'm going to go and try to fix my steering and take some pictures.
