Been doing a lot on the 80 recently, decided to start a build thread to keep track and hopefully contribute something positive to mud for a change.

Nice clean truck!

I'm interested in your Alpine radio set-up. If you can, please list all that you used (including the mounting / storage pocket). Thanks!

Thanks sir, I have really been enjoying it.

Once you've picked out a headunit you like (i think mine is a CDE-143BT, it's a few years old), you'll need a single UPT900 dash kit (linked below) and a Metra 70-1761 harness (also linked below) if you want to bypass the amp (I bypassed because I couldn't stand the whine/interference and the bypass is super easy, you just plug into the unused grey plugs behind the dash and disconnect the harness at the factory amp).

Dash kit (storage pocket) you will mount this to the headunit (top or bottom, your choice) with the factory brackets, then those brackets mount to the dash:
American International UPT900 Dash Kit

Harness to bypass amp:
Metra 70-1761 Receiver Wiring Harness

If you order the headunit you like from crutchfield and enter your vehicle info, they will send you instructions, the harness, and the dash kit for free. I always buy my stereo gear from them, their tech support is hands down the best I have ever dealt with. They are based in the US and will go open up and install product to help you trouble shoot if you need.

After a bit of an oil pressure scare... I determined that the factory oil pressure sending unit on the dash was going, and indicating low when heat soaked.

So, I installed this badboy:

It's got a lot of fancy colors:

More leather stuff (I do this as my other hobby, found a neat way to have some cross over)

Also installed a "MagMic" magnetic mic holder for my Ham radio. Need to add in some pictures of the Massive Metal mounts for my antenna.

In that knowledge, why do anything?

Your leather goods are on point, btw. 👍

Definitely didn’t need to do anything, but I liked doing it :)

And thanks! It’s a fun little hobby

Some useful info for anyone trying to sort out their door locks not working:

AISIN DLT088Left Rear Lock Actuator137.79Left rear and hatch use sameRock Auto
AISIN DLT088Hatch Lock Actuator137.79Left rear and hatch use sameRock Auto
AISIN DLT089Right Rear Lock Actuator137.79-Rock Auto

Ordered these today, will report back once I get them installed. It's a real pain to source the motors these days and $38 for actuator for an AISIN part is worth a try in my book. I have already installed new motors in the actuators and they only lasted about a year before they failed again.

Note that the rear left door AND the hatch use the same part number :) That doesn't seem to be easy information to find.

Thanks I didn’t know they were the same. Make sure you clean out the lock mechanism as the old grease can make it real stiff, and I’m sure will wear out the motors much faster.

Good call, once I am in there I will get everything out for a good clean. My drivers door lock cylinder got all locked up and i managed to free it up with some WD 40 today ... going to need to pull the cylinders apart and give them a good clean + relube too.

Also, did the auto-up diode mod :)

Trick is to bend the leads right against the diode, snip them about half way off, and insert with tweezers from the underside (the side everything else is mounted on).
