Because some said it was a good idea to clean the heater box (Darkness) I still can't figure out how that stupid thing comes apart. HELP PLEASE

But I remove the fan and cleaned it up, also re sealed the housing and replaced the foam on the blend door. I know, it's a sickness.

Attacked the center console. Installed a accessory socket and 2.3v double USB charger. Blue sea I believe (in a box of parts I had) running constant power. Ground under console, sheathed wire under carpet to drivers side firewall.

Also drilled a 3/4" hole for radio smartphone jack and install grommet to secure harness. Tan under carpet to deck.

I smacked this by mistake and it rattled. I taped or and it rattled. So I removed the shroud and installed a vibration damper which is a GM part to stop squeaks and rattles in GM cars. Then re installed the shroud. All good!

Installed the light switch for the 42" e-Vision light bar. I'd like to run a factory type switch, just don't think the 80 had one and my 100/FJC switches won't fit.

Hey, looks like it was a good idea! I actually just meant the round part. The square part is the AC heat exchanger. You can reach in there with a shop vac from the blower. Sorry I didn't see this in time to help!

Shane.. Love your thread. Your gonna make follow in your steps and detail my rig like this. Love how the wet sanding made your paint look like new, i have a black LX. I have a lot of swirls that i want to remove, what would be a good techniquw to remove them and shine up the paint. I have clayed and waxed that is the extent of my paint refinishisng.

My A/C box looked the same way when I rebuilt the system. Huge difference when it is cleaned up.

Keep posting tips and product notes. I am learning a lot!

Thank you!

Any help getting into that box would be huge!

I accessed it just like you did in your pics. Scraped and pulled everything I could off of the coils with my hands. The carefully used a small attachment on my shop vac for the rest.

I gave up after 5 min of trying to completely remove the cover for fear of breaking stuff.

I can only open it a few inches. It's going to be tough as I don't have anything small enough to get in there. Now I know it's full of crap and I just can't let gooooooo.

Odd that you can open three sides and not the rear. Makes no sense to me.

The AC cooling lines connect to the heat exchanger through the firewall. I don't think you can get that lower part off without disconnecting them. Unless you open up the AC system I think you're as far as you can go. There are products you can use to clean the fins with the box closed:

I think getting the leaves out is the main thing so they aren't rotting in your vents.

The cleaning looks great. I am in the middle of that and still trying to get to installing your seat covers.

That BlueSea dual USB charger will pull IIRC 15mA to just power the LED. You might want to place that on a switched circuit to avoid a drained battery.

Sent from my iPad using IH8MUD

Shane the rig is coming together nicely, and quickly.

Marked and drilled holes for the heated seat switches.

I was gonna do this in my 4Runner but wasn't sure if the blank was big enough for the switch. Did you do anything special to the blank, or just mark and drill?
