I used the fancy ratchet straps that were offered back in the day. I’d prefer the bolt on strips. Can’t remember what they were called, but they utilize third row seat hardware on the floor. I never picked up a set for my 80. My drawers don’t move a ton with the ratchet straps, but there is a little bit of play.

I think the turnbuckle route is the way to go. Simple. Cheap. secure.

What do you guys hook to on the drawer system? Do you add an eye to the extruded aluminum somewhere?

Super pleased I went with the bolt-on rails which were offered. It totally eliminated any shifting of the drawers and seems like a great way to secure. Only downside would be if you frequently remove/reattach the drawers.

Seems very DIY-friendly to recreate as well. A pair of 3-4" wide strips of thin but strong aluminum run lengthwise. Ends of the strips are connected with short wood screws upwards, in to the drawers. The middle of the stips each have 2 larger holes corresponding to the fore/aft seatbelt bolts.

Question: how are people securing their drawers to the truck to keep it from moving around? Is your method strong enough to hold them in place during a rollover? Need to lock mine down as the last part of my process.
I havent rolled my truck to confirm, but mine are bolted to the seat locations in the floor as well as with a bracket to the wheel well seat mount. I figured the seat mounts are designed to hold a several hundred pound passenger so they’re probably strong enough. I’m pretty sure in a rollover they’ll hold but who knows… the drawers are wood and could certainly break apart.

^^this is an important consideration and a great reminder for me to pare down my kit. It’s amazing how my drawers can shift into to junk drawers very quickly after a couple of months. No need to over load my already heavy cruiser anyway. If you have space you will fill it….or at least I do!

That was one reason I don't have drawers and just have space under the platform for now. I also have the deck height at 7" since I didn't need the depth. I can fit everything I need plus some and don't miss the height.

If I ever get crazy, since my spare is on the bumper now, I will cut open the trunk floor and make a storage area trunk with a flat platform, and reclaim my full trunk space. Pipe dream tho

I consider myself lucky to have a set of KISS drawers, I find them incredibly simple and effective.

Is anyone else out there building drawers similar to these with plastic drawer slides?

I don’t know of any but I have a set of KISS drawers that I’m kinda of sick of if anyone wants to buy them off of me?

Just kidding, these things are awesome! Glad I got a set.

I built mine using those UHMW slides. They’re an effective use of space, but with a loaded drawer they are very hard to open. If I was doing it over I’d use locking ball bearing slides

ya the KISS drawers are super money I haven't had any issues in almost 5 years with them

Same, I love mine. I think I had my since the first group buy 8 years?

I have moved mine into every Cruiser I own. They are currently in my 61 right now but will be transferred to my 200 in the next couple of weeks. I absolutely love them.
