Has anyone put together or seen a parts interchange guide? So for instance, we know the transfer case plugs, diff plugs will be here for a long time because you could source them from a Camry, but what about some of the sensors in our engines? Just so we could get an idea of what to stock up on and what we know will be around for a while.

...or your money back ;) That is correct. There are several such yards in the Dominican Republic. This one is @ 18°29'10.08"N, 69°52'26.20"W.

This is great! I live next to the Dominican Republic! A quick jump on a weekend to get parts.Anyway, I'm working on replace the 3FE. Three options; a Tundra V-8, a 350 GM, or a Diesel. A guy here already converted a 4 Runner to a 5 cilynder Mercedes. Very efficient a plenty power. :steer:

So can you give us an idea as to what parts or type of parts are likely to go first?

Interior, colored parts, trim.

Emissions components (for example, 1FZ-FE charcoal canister is discontinued).

Body Parts (fenders are already discontinued).

Mechanical and electrical will come sort of at the end.

Glad I splurged for that map light outer piece! Heck my yellowed one might pass for the oak color! Thanks for your help finding that one.

I have just started to copy the 40 and 60 series folks and say that the truck has "Patina"

as in:

"it would be a shame to repaint that faded clearcoat on the hood, you would ruin the patina!"

Hold on just a damn minute...y'all still have CLEARCOAT???

At least the woodgrain comes off easily enough to reveal a normal plastic surface.

I just had what appears to be a drunk on a bicycle modify my driver's side mirror (while parked on the street). Beno, I may be calling soon to see what is available in mirror parts...

As i was cleaning up my center console a few weeks ago i started to wonder how long it would be before people start applying bedliner to their interior plastics

Not bedliner, but already using plasti-dip. The overhead console trim had turned as yellow as grandma's toenails, so I painted it black. :hillbilly:

My entire interior flooring is bed lined. Has been since roughly 2006 or so. Much easier to clean with a garden hose.

what is it with guys and bedliner

I swear that gene is on the Y-chromosome

You can bleach that back to it's original color. google "retr0bright".

i've considered the vinyl from stock interiors.

But seriously, my console looks like it's basically painted plastic on top, and some of the plastic is bleached back out like from nail polish remover or something. It looks bad. I considered rolling on bed liner. There must be a better idea though.

I am sort of considering valspar plastic primer + a few coats of blitz black + some wet sanding, which made a completely awesome trim piece in my VW, but mostly because if you do it right it's the exact same color and reflectivity as VW black plastic dashboard pieces.
