So I got around to putting the bumper on...I like it. Makes the truck look more balanced...also locates the tag in a good spot. We're doing the center console for it too....starting with the base I got from Japan 4x4 a LONG time ago...it was for an automatic but the upper part wasn't even close since it was for a RHD truck...maybe a 76 or something. We'll make it work for the 79....I just want something to put my loose change in...maybe a bottle of water. We're going to have 2 cupholders....one will fit off to the right side where the transfer lever was on the OEM truck this thing went into. Should be a pretty nice piece once it's painted to match.

Just remember that bumper has the structural integrity of a beer can. It is more of a "step" than a bumper. :D

Right....should have said I installed the rear step/license plate holder. Very light duty.

That is exactly the description in the Toyota Parts Manual.

We FINALLY sorted out the exhaust....ended up putting in a giant 4" in, 4" out 2014 Cadillac Escalade muffler....I finally have a quiet truck. Now I can hear those MT55s really sing which is fine. The exhaust note is a little sloppy...not sure that is the best description but it's not so clean. It's quiet though which is all I care about. The Escalade that we pulled the exhaust off of had a resonator at the tail pipes so I think we'll mess around with a small resonator and see if we can't clean up the exhaust note a tiny bit. It's like a totally different truck now....it's almost exactly what I set out to create AND the power level seems to be unaffected by this muffler(baffled/chambered).

Couple progress shots of the center console....I think it's going to look and function perfectly when we finish it up....going to go with a textured black powdercoat on the aluminum more than likely....

Still making progress on the center console....we've still got a good ways to go but this should be close to the final product....pretty cool.

I don't think the H-L shifter hole has been finalized....looks too small. I have an extra tan e-brake boot we will use as a shifter boot for that once we get the console fitted and finalized. Probably going to go with a light texture black powdercoat for all the parts. I think we decided on a small bezel under the shifter "dome" and the base. Once the cup holders go in it will look really slick....

Figured it was time for a 1000 mile update....truck has been doing really well. We've been busy in the shop so it's kind of taken a back seat which is fine as it hasn't needed a whole lot. I decided to install Dynamat on top of the previously installed Lizard Skin. The interior is extremely quiet now...I went with a layer of Dynmat Extreme over the entire floor and up the firewall....then we used Dynapad for the footwells and around the rear of the cab(super heavy foam pad that goes under the carpet/flooring. Neat product and really worked well in combination with the Dynamat. The truck is very solid feeling.

I put some Dynamat in the open spaces under the hood, followed by Dynanliner(an adhesive backed foam). That just about eliminated all noise from the engine compartment. HUGE difference with that.

Installed the front flare extensions which look pretty cool and finish off the bumper...

Next up is getting some LineX work done in the bed and putting more miles on it....

Console is still a work in progress....it's not very far away though. Just needs some minor work to fit the other cupholder and make some mounts to hold it down to the shifter plate. Then I'll have a couple of holes filled in the plastic and get it painted to match the rest of the tans in the truck...we sprayed it with some textured black and some light tan we had laying around. Good enough for now...

Vinyl floors came with the truck body....mats were a gift from some friendly Canadians I buy parts from.

I think I'd better track down another set of mats though...when these wear out, I'll be crushed if I don't have a replacement. They're almost too nice to put my feet on!

Let me see what I can come up with...

SHould have let him sweat!

I thought about it but then I remembered he was helping me out on Saturdays with the wiring schematics for this truck. Without it, we'd still be messing with wiring!
