I have a 9/83 FJ40 and the rear jump seats in my rig do NOT have the fold down leg. I thought I had read somewhere that the correct jump seat for an '83 had the fold down leg. I cannot remember where I read this and can't seem to find any of this information on MUD. I have searched on line and I have seen supposed '83's with both so I am stumped!!! I am a builder by trade and my search skills are a bit weak. o_O

That being said is there a thread out there that lists what jump seats go with what years (i.e. short, long, with folding leg, without folding leg, etc.)?

If there is no such beast can we create a list here? I am sure someone out there might want to know this info. If there is a listing of year specific jump seats can someone please help me?

Thanks in advance for any help!!!

Well then. That was easy. I have the wrong seats.

Thanks brother!!

74' model rigs 10/73 till 75' was short seat no legs and 76-77 was also short seat no legs but a different bumper

At some point maybe somebody can make a more complete list?

I think CCOT? Had a list that was flawed ... There is also the fact that this is for USA market ...

World had lots of different setups

I would think that this would be a good list to start. Especially if there are nuances like different bumpers, etc.

Lets see if we can get this party started.

No help to you but my 2/78 has short seat with no legs

the seats that came in my 78 had no legs and the metal tubing on the inside of the cover.

the seats i bought that supposedly came out of a 78 have the legs and piping on the outside of the cover.

I bought covers from cruiser corps for 78 seats and they kinda fit the seats i bought from a member on here that I suspect are later model seats. I had to really stretch them. Ill look for pics

These came out of a 78 I bought from a member on here parting out a rig. I dont believe from what Ive read they were original to the truck that was a 78, they are different than the ones that were on my 78 but who knows what previous owners do to get parks. I dont mind I wanted ones with good metal.
They have a wider fold out leg than some ive seen with a narrow fold out leg. The tubing is on the outside on the bottom/but part but inside on the top/back pad part. The covers I bought from cruiser corps kinda fit them with some work but I dont believe I ordered the correct ones so that is nothing against them in any way.

I have a set just like these. According to SOR the pad on the bottm stopped mid 78 model year. 74 and 78 were longer model years than other years because the next model year didn't start until January. It is also common for changed happened during the model year. While the tabs for the top of the tub started mid sixties the mounting points didn't change from two bolts to a single bolt until some time in 69. Angled bottom was 72 and 73 models. 61 Model had two arm rests like the FJ25 the 61 FJ40 were lower then the back rest. FJ25s they were the same height.

Well Just like that I am the proud owner of year appropriate Jump seats.

This is just another reason why I love MUD.

Thanks Mike!!

Do you have any pictures?

Here are some pictures of pre 79 jump seats. both types of folding legs found on 78s and another one I'm not sure the year of. I have 74 seats in my 68 FJ40 and 76 with original seats. I didn't realize the pads on the bottom were different between 74 and 75/76. Next time I around them I'll have to check it out. I believe I also picked up a matching seat for the non folding leg seat pictured here I could compare.
