We had a great time!! It felt sooooooo good to get back in the woods in a truck. What a great group of people to go with as well. IT was the perfect trip for us as it was the shake down trip for the 80 and Dexter did just fine. Heather feels comfortable behind the wheel and is looking forward to going again soon.

This is a trip that should be taken by all! We found no terrain that would prevent a stock LC from going and much of the trails if not all can be done in 2WD. Izzy Jim/Shaun Heather/Stan went off a different direction when we left camp toward home on Sunday. We followed trails up around the state park Izzy posted on page one.

At one point we came across 100s of yellow butterflies on the trail and stopped, when we went forward a bunch more popped up in front of izzy and we essentially herded them down the trail to a water crossing, beyond cool!!! Cant beat a trip that includes waterfalls, butterflies and unicorns (2).

I have no pics as my cell was turned off as soon as we met up at the rest stop and not turned back on till we returned home. I will see what Heather has.

Finally rolled back into the ILM at about 11:30 last night.

What was the final outcome with the Crock Pot @roadstr6 ?
The oil pressure issue @JohnVee ?
kept waiting for the text or call after we came out of the woods. I'm assuming (hoping) everything went OK for you guys...

Had a great time. Beautiful location and stellar company. I told the wife, next year she and the kids are coming for sure.

Looks like most of the pics I took have already been posted up in one form or another. I look through this evening and see if I have anything original on the phone and, if so, put them up.

We called ahead to Advance Auto in Canton and made sure they had a set of brake shoes for the CP. We changed the one side out in the parking lot. It wasn't a big deal at all with help from the group. Crockpot ran a little hot pulling hills on the way home. We ended up stopping two additional times to let it cool down. We ended up taking out the thermostat and it seemed to help.

Glad to hear it went smoothly.

Glad to hear that Rafael's fix worked and that he had the right material for the plug. Smart guy that Raffi. And all you have to do is swap the other side and you have new rear brakes out of the deal!

The oil pressure issue @JohnVee ?
I topped off the oil the day before the trip when the oil light came on and it read 1-qt low. The light never came on during the trip but I was 2-qts low when we pulled off the road on Sunday. I topped of again and things have been fine. My warning was a burning oil smell (could've been from anybody) and the oil pressure gauge steadily dropping to a level I've never seen despite revving the engine. It's been acting fine since then. No visible leaks. I'll check the level again today when I get somewhere flat.

That is correct, Stan. For all you 100% pure OEM Toyota ballswingers, the CP has had a Currie (Ford) 9" rear end swapped in by who knows who and for what reason I have no clue. I called the closest parts store and asked Bubba, " Got a set of brake shoes for my eighty-seven F-150 pickup?" His response...."Yup, got 'em in stock. $18.50 for a set. Yeeuns come on by..." Try that with Toyota stuff!

But I digress...if it had been a Toyota axle and brakes, the pads would have probably never been an issue in the first place....

This is what I'm talking about!! Isn't that nice, to be able to get parts anywhere?

John, this may be a simple thought, but I had very similar problem and found the drain bolt was loose. Loose enough not to drip, but would loose oil while driving, hitting the exhaust and flashing off. Found by accident when doing oil change, now haven't lost a drop since.

This is a big selling factor on some motor swaps as well.

He was from half way up the holler. If he was from the top, he'd a said "ens" ... :hillbilly:

Wonderful pics. Sounds like a lot of fun - I will be on the look out for these in the future! :)

Huge selling point, but also a double edged sword. My radiator hose is from a '90 c10, I run a ford throwout bearing, and a short water pump from a 68 truck. Lawd hep me when my memory goes. :)
