Finally rolled back into the ILM at about 11:30 last night.
What was the final outcome with the Crock Pot @roadstr6 ?
The oil pressure issue @JohnVee ?
kept waiting for the text or call after we came out of the woods. I'm assuming (hoping) everything went OK for you guys...
Had a great time. Beautiful location and stellar company. I told the wife, next year she and the kids are coming for sure.
Looks like most of the pics I took have already been posted up in one form or another. I look through this evening and see if I have anything original on the phone and, if so, put them up.
We called ahead to Advance Auto in Canton and made sure they had a set of brake shoes for the CP. We changed the one side out in the parking lot. It wasn't a big deal at all with help from the group. Crockpot ran a little hot pulling hills on the way home. We ended up stopping two additional times to let it cool down. We ended up taking out the thermostat and it seemed to help.
I topped off the oil the day before the trip when the oil light came on and it read 1-qt low. The light never came on during the trip but I was 2-qts low when we pulled off the road on Sunday. I topped of again and things have been fine. My warning was a burning oil smell (could've been from anybody) and the oil pressure gauge steadily dropping to a level I've never seen despite revving the engine. It's been acting fine since then. No visible leaks. I'll check the level again today when I get somewhere flat. The oil pressure issue @JohnVee ?
Glad to hear that Rafael's fix worked and that he had the right material for the plug. Smart guy that Raffi. And all you have to do is swap the other side and you have new rear brakes out of the deal!
That is correct, Stan. For all you 100% pure OEM Toyota ballswingers, the CP has had a Currie (Ford) 9" rear end swapped in by who knows who and for what reason I have no clue. I called the closest parts store and asked Bubba, " Got a set of brake shoes for my eighty-seven F-150 pickup?" His response...."Yup, got 'em in stock. $18.50 for a set. Yeeuns come on by..." Try that with Toyota stuff!
This is what I'm talking about!! Isn't that nice, to be able to get parts anywhere?

This is a big selling factor on some motor swaps as well.
