The club’s second scheduled trip for 2015 to Hurricane Creek and the surrounding areas in NC and TN will be July 24th – 26th. Brian Keefer will be leading a trip June 26th - 28th.

This is an Expo style trip in which self-reliance is the subject: No bathrooms, no gas stops, no showers, no guaranteed camping sites as we will be miles from paved roads. You can expect miles of US Forestry Service roads, short mountain hikes (to the top of Max Patch and hopefully Buzzard's Roost this year), scenic views, refreshing mountain streams, cool nights spent around a campfire and maybe a bear or two. Expectations are that any Toyota with 4WD will do fine on the terrain we'll be covering. (Read here: You don't need lockers, a lift, mud tires, etc.)

As far as equipment, gear, etc., those attending will coordinate so we don't have more than 2 of most things (campstoves, etc) and yet ensure we have firewood, tarps, rope, saws, shovels, potable water, etc. At a minimum, an attendee would need a lightweight sleeping bag, tent, cooler and $ to put towards group meals.

Details will be ironed out in the near future but plans will include the ever-popular group meals. The trip will be limited to 9 paid ONSC member trucks. Click HERE to see the thread and photos from last year's trip.

If this sounds like a trip for you, post up below or PM me. I'll edit this post as spots are filled.

7. Izzyandsue (Izzy)

This trip is now technically full. Historically, as the date approaches conflicts arise for early responders and spots have opened up. Below is the waiting list.

Keeping a close eye on this. Don't know if I'll be able to get the time off on the 24th.

Need to check the calendar, but definitely interested.

For clarity: this is a single trip from 24-28 OR a club trip 24-26 and a second loosely affiliated event 26-28?

Count me as a yes ...

Both are "official" ONSC trips. Due to historic demand, we have scheduled two trips again this year. Due to scheduling conflicts, the trips were combined last year.

Put me down for this.

gonna try to make it, hopefully house will be well on the market and/or sold by then so I may have a tiny bit of vacation time I have to use up

Ava will go with me.

@RedHeadedStepChild Two trips. June 26-28 with Brian K leading. July 24-26 with David M leading. David's just so excited about it that he had to post his first.

Wow! That filled up fast!
I guess I should have left work to check my calendar.

Those of us who have done this one before know how cool of a trip it is...that's why we all signed up so quickly! The trick is that the trip flows better with a small group mainly due to campsite availability. Maybe we just need to add a third set of dates? Perhaps someone will be willing to step up and host a third trip?

Sorry david I thought this was the June trip, scratch my name off and give it to Jim as he is first up
