Rice, if you ever sell (and you'd better not) you may want to give the buyer a wrong number. I just had this situation the other day. Sold an old Chevy S10 ZR2 4x4 truck years ago that I had modified with newer model spindles, hubs, rotors, calipers, etc to improve braking and get around a constant ball joint wear issue inherent to my particular model. Last week when the brakes finally wore out (years later after the sale) the owner called me wanting to know what pads to buy because they did not match the ones that Vadozone sold him. My memory had faded. I wasn't much help.....

Agree with Dave there. I sold a Heep a long time ago that had custom axles (HP 60 rear and HP 44 front) and a whole sheite load of "special" parts. I had a spreadsheet with major manufacturer part numbers and applications for these parts that I provided to the owner along with the laminated printouts that were contained in the glove box and velcro'd to the underside of the custom aluminum tub cover.

When he finally bent the spare tie rod 8 years later, he called me asking what the @#$%! kind of truck did he have that he could not goto DAZone and buy a tie rod! As I recall, the rierod was from some mid 70s 3/4 ton Ford, but it had to be cut down and re-threaded and the tie rod ends were from something else ... like Dave, I had slept since I had built the truck and did not have the details ...

Here's a few more pics.

Who got a pic of my monster trout from the stream crossing? Post here or send it to me by text or email. I'll need to edit my fat @$$ out of the pic!

Related topic: I didn't gain any weight over the weekend and seem to have actually lost a little. Maybe Izzy is onto something...

I didn't get a pic of the fish, I was trying to get it out of the stream with my winch, it was so big.

Bacon, its whats for dinner.

I forgot to thank everybody for making this a great trip. It was a great group of people who all pitched in for the common good. I'd like to point out the chefs - Rafael, Jim, Eric (!!!), Stan/Heather, and those who prepped what we cooked.

Izzy led our caravan through most of the forest. He also helped me understand my iPad map app.

Shaun got our campfire roaring each night thanks to the fuel from Rafael and Stan. He also made sure we had plenty of fruit to counter all the meat.

David and Kate had a lot on their shoulders in the form of the LV but they both were always around asking if they could do anything to help out. By that, I simply mean that they were tired, not that anything was wrong! They had the most "pioneer" style of travel among the group.

Dave and Nathan brought the great camp grill as well as great attitudes. I'm still wondering how I never made it over to see their in-the-40 hammock setup.

That's just what is still in my memory. Sorry if I left out a major contribution from somebody.

As always, I learned a lot about camping from this trip. I think the bulk of my learning will be reflected in my chuck box and overall pack next time.

I second Johnvee on above (I was really trying to get us lost though).

But also, ONSC performed some great duties:
  1. Jim helped a family camping (for a reunion weekend) fix a flat tire, they had no spare and a tire puncture was the problem. I had the puncture repair kit but had never used it. Jim did all the work while I watch and learned.
  2. At the Martha Sundquist State Park campsite, we put out the fire left smoldering by prior campers, used jerry cans refilled at the creek, and removed all the plastic garbage they left behind as well. Jim Callahan lead that too by the way.
Club members showing great stewardship is pretty cool too.

It truly was a great weekend and Heather and I are looking forward to going back to the area and do some exploring of not so used trails etc. Perfect weekend getaway to decompress.

loving the pics..... Looks like I've got a few days off coming up, so I'm going to use 2 of the days to go finally shoot the creek

As the coordinator for this trip, I'm long overdue to add my wrap-up comments.

We had a great group again this year but we missed Sarah, Sam and Jennifer. I really wish you had been able to join us.

To Sam, the elk sausage was a big hit at our breakfasts and we all appreciated your contribution, especially considering you weren't there. To everyone, thank you for your contributions to the group meals. I really think they worked out well.

We had good weather that weekend. The best improvement to the trip had to be the trips to the waterfalls. (Thanks Brian and Jay!)

Some people told me that the conditions on Hurricane Creek had deteriorated from the prior year. While I am unsure, I will say that the LV was not as comfortable as the 40 had been. With the springs in the front seat, I might as well have been sitting on a trampoline and I managed to hit my head on the ceiling more than once.

I'm really glad our smaller group made the side trip to Buzzard's Roost on Sunday afternoon even if it contributed to our not arriving home until 9 o'clock. Thanks to Jason for sending me such good directions to Buzzard's Roost a year or two ago. That's quite a view.

The camaraderie shown in getting Dave and the Crockpot home was great for Kate to see. It was a teaching moment I don't think she'll ever forget and a great demonstration of what friendship looks like when lived out.

While I certainly liked the time saved by spending two nights at the campground at Round Mountain, I wish the campground was more centrally located the territory we were covering.

Thanks to those that brought along extra fuel for the LV. I was anxious about running out in the tunnel on I-40 but knew you guys would come to my rescue if I did.

Thanks to Izzy and John for bringing their GPS enabled tablets and to Izzy for ensuring we made it to our destinations and thanks to Izzy for the bag of ice. (I've got to breakdown and get a better cooler.)

Thanks to everyone who helped get the LV ready so I could fulfill my dream of taking it to Hurricane Creek. Overall, it performed better than expected. The only thing that went wrong with the LV was in the home stretch when the apple juice container, I mean overflow bottle, broke free from the ziptie that held it to the radiator and it dropped straight down knocking a headlight wire loose. These old trucks are GREAT!

Thanks to everyone who cooked, cleaned, shared their food and beer, and hauled gear we never (thankfully) needed. I'm sure I'm missing something but hopefully I thanked you in person already. I hope to see you at Logan's Run.
