Interior Heater Hose Size

I'm dealing with a coolant leak and need to repair the brass section of the heater hose running to the rear heater. I'll probably just run a longer piece of heater hose from the broken brass tubing to the heater.

Does anyone know what size rubber heater hose I need to replace what's there (stock size)? OD/ID?

If you want to replace your entire leaking hard line you are welcome to the one from my 79. It may not work though because I think the bends will be very different since it is for a later tub?

Thanks John. I'm guessing you plugged your rear heater? What did you use. I was thinking of doing the same since I don't drive it in the winter...

Here's a simple option

I take the rear heater out every summer so my son doesn't step on it so much. Made a simple elbow out of leftover plumbing bits.
Also makes it easy to tell engine temps, just reach back and grab.

I just replaced my hard lines with 5/8" ID from a performance shop near me. Fit very tight and works like a champ. Good luck.

5in ÷ 8 x 25.4mm/in = 15.9mm

Soooo, none of the above? I've always just used 5/8" for heater hose on my Toyotas.

When I removed my rear heater I capped the lines at the firewall with 5/8" or 1.5cm available at Napa, part number 660-1696.

The heater hose to the rear heater on my '78 FJ40 is 1/2". The rear heater connections are 1/2".
