Good to know on the Tef-Gel. We'll see how it is next time around - is it just sticky/goopy? Did it work otherwise.
Yes it worked well, just sticky hard to clean and gets everywhere ;)

That’s what she said!

Nothing of value to add here. Just enjoying reading the show.

I imagine there aren’t better/many alternatives to create a seal between dissimilar metals.

Having new hardware on hand and treating it as a consumable may not be a bad idea.

I posted the weights a page back. OEM = 21 lbs, KMC Mesa Forged = 31 lbs w/ ring and hardware.

But I should be saving about 3 lbs by moving from 315/75r16 to 35x12.5r17 - for a total of +7 lbs per corner. Not the worst
That makes sense bro. I forgot that with the 17s you’re technically running less tire (sidewall) vs the 16s so that’s your 3lb weight saving per tire.

I know you’ve had beadlocks before, are they highway friendly? All the good spots I visit or want to visit are like 500-1,500 miles away so it’s always a trip to get out somewhere.

Im patiently waiting to see pics of these mounted on your truck.

Highway friendly - not sure yet but I'm sure they will be. They aren't DOT approved or whatever the legalese is with Hutchinsons. But I don't know anyone who's ever been stopped for beadlocks.

My buddy who has these wheels on a Jeep has made tons of long road trips at 70mph, no problem.

Funny enough, I haven't balanced them yet but I had to run around a little. Had them up to 50 mph and no vibration/balance issues at all. Anyone ever had that happen? No need to balance wheels? I'll try taking it on the freeway and see how it does.

Wow those look good! Any other angles to show how flush they sit? Do they poke out at all or no?
They're flush with the fenders - no poke really

I have a lot of trim/moldings/weatherstripping that I've been saving for a repaint. But that is still a ways out and I couldn't take the belt moldings anymore. Swapped those out - crazy what a difference they make.

The prize for dumbest trim piece goes to the mirror triangle garnish on the front doors -

Replaced the mudflaps -

And taillight lenses. Nothing wrong with them but I've been on this OEM kick where I want to buy everything they still make before it ends up on that discontinued parts thread.

I'm bagging up all these usable but old parts in the new bags and will keep them around as spares.

Then got it all cleaned up and ready for a neighborhood car show.

Also between the offset of the wheels and the 3L arms, I'm rubbing pretty badly on the driver's side bumper when I turn at a certain angle - you can see the tire shavings here. So you know what that means, it's either time to get out the angle grinder OR buy an aftermarket bumper and preserve this stock bumper... unless anyone has any other ideas?

With so many better options that flow with the lines I just can't see why anyone goes arb anymore.
I like bumpers that flow with the design on modern cars but part of the reason why I like the ARB on an 80 is I feel like it kind of squares up an otherwise bubble/round design. personal opinion of course

I have an unpopular opinion here, too, but I'm with @Dusten. The ARB bumpers are antiquated (but straightforward and that ain't always bad) and do not flow well with the 80s lines. I have the Delta VS bumper, but I'm sure some can't stand them.

If I was going for function primarily I think I'd go with a Dissent.

And yeah I think when I was younger I saw a white 80 all done up old school overlanding style with an ARB bumper, Front Runner rack, big ol RTT, round off-road lights etc. and you know how seeing things like that in childhood can mess you up for life. My adult wallet has never recovered
