Been following your great thread for some time and I have a similar vehicle to yours. I originally had a arb on my first 80 but decided never again for bull bars after a mild accident. It ended up bending my frame, and I thought it did more damage to both fenders and hood vs if i just had my oem. I have TJM on mine currently, and its probably my favorite aftermarket bumper in terms of looks because it resembles the factory bumper. The TJM is not heavy duty and really annoying fitting my warn 9.5xps and aux lights and so on. I feel like the non heavy dutyness of it might actually protect the frame as the bumper would bend and absorb energy vs the heavy duty ones. I then went on to get the dissent but could not fit my winch without trimming the bumper and had buyers regret as I was not a fan the looks. Going to pick up a Slee in a few days so don't know how that's gonna work out. The delta front for the 80 also just looks hideous to me but i have their rear which is amazing.

Also have you had any issues mounting your large spare on you spare tire carrier. Thought I remember some threads mentioning it did not hold up very well to the weight of larger tires.

To be 100% honest. Although I'm sure sure they're all more than up to the task, I don't like the way any of these bumpers look. (including the ARB) However, if I had to choose one, I would still choose the ARB. I don't know... maybe I'll make my own.

I will say finding a bumper for the 80 is a breath of fresh air compared to a Tundra. Basically 90% of the choices look like this:

ok I might be exaggerating with the 90%. There are some good looking prerunner style bumpers though. Probably going to go with an SS Built like this:

Since we are messing up @ikarus build thread, we built this one for a different series of Cruiser. I like it! 😂🤌

Killer! You gonna make more? Or just a one-off?

All interesting points. I have wondered that before about energy transfer in a crash.

No issue mounting a 35" as a spare. I read that most people do fine up to 35s, and some even report 37s working fine. But that was part of my reasoning for sticking to 35s instead of moving up to 37s - I'd rather have a new bumper with a swingout to hold a 37.

That looks so damn good. If you have the bandwidth you should seriously consider selling DIY kits/built bumpers for a few cruiser series. Would love to buy something like this for my 80.

Oh also speaking of Tundras, if anyone is interested I recently started a build thread on my Tundra over in the Tundra/Sequoia section. Just installed Kings this week.

FWIW, several HDJ81s around here running 35s on the stock tire carrier (including mine), have yet to hear of an issue.
Nice. I've been checking mine occasionally and all the mounts and sheet metal seem fine after a decent amount of wheeling and rough roads with the 35 on the back.

Check out SOB Fabrication for awesome Tundra front/rear bumpers.

Highway friendly - not sure yet but I'm sure they will be. They aren't DOT approved or whatever the legalese is with Hutchinsons. But I don't know anyone who's ever been stopped for beadlocks.

My buddy who has these wheels on a Jeep has made tons of long road trips at 70mph, no problem.

Funny enough, I haven't balanced them yet but I had to run around a little. Had them up to 50 mph and no vibration/balance issues at all. Anyone ever had that happen? No need to balance wheels? I'll try taking it on the freeway and see how it does.

They're flush with the fenders - no poke really

I’ll keep an eye on this thread for sure. Being able to balance the wheels is a must for me since like I said all the cool places are very far away. Fitment looks spot on.

I've never had a Tundra, but I see your point, and feel your pain.

I'm just collecting fenders over here

Picked up a new late model 80 Series fender locally. Sold my early model fender to a friend. Realized the new fender has a dent in the bottom. Put on my silver LX 450 fender - it's obviously a different shade but it looks better than before.

I didn't get a pic but the 80 flares line up on an LX 450 fender in all but one mounting point. Just had to drill one new hole and the flare mounted right up. Then long term I've got a few cladding holes to fill in, or fix the 80 fender.

Just trying to clean up a little for Cruiserfest tomorrow. I considered tackling a big old list of trim, snorkel, headlights, side marker lights, headlight washer delete, new grille yada yada but I'm just going to take it as is, I don't like rushing projects.

Got this lint razor off Amazon for like $8 and it cleaned up the pilling on the suede seats nicely.

And kicked the 200 out of the garage, just for tonight. Probably the cleanest it's ever been/will be for a while. Tomorrow should be fun

I had the same style seats in my lightning. It's called alcantara. The lint razor is awesome.

Cruiserfest was cool. Lots of great stuff to see from all the other cruisers to Ivan Stewart telling stories.

In other news, an interesting update for the imported cruiser guys. I know this is probably old news because I noticed it a few months ago, but Google Maps on CarPlay will show your speed via GPS if you have a route mapped. Nice way to double check your speed if your cluster is just KMH

I didn't even know about this, would have been a blast to go to! I'm just north of the museum

I can't get over how great those wheels look.

Late to the party
I run bead locks & 39s with no balancing, they were butter smooth when new.
Now 4 seasons of hard wheeling they have a very small amount of vibration but still very street friendly.
I recheck the torque on the bolts about every 6 months

Also between the offset of the wheels and the 3L arms, I'm rubbing pretty badly on the driver's side bumper when I turn at a certain angle - you can see the tire shavings here. So you know what that means, it's either time to get out the angle grinder OR buy an aftermarket bumper and preserve this stock bumper... unless anyone has any other ideas?

Are you running an adjustable front panhard bar ?
Sounds like the front axle is not centered.

Go next year for sure, you'll love it. Happens every September

Good call, that's been on my to-do list. I'll install one and see if it helps.

That quarter panel looks great, much closer to the original paint. Are you gonna…..you know…..go for another scalpel job for the snorkel?? 😁

Just trying to motivate myself to chop it up again. Got another snorkel in that should work this time. I mocked it up with the fender off and it looked good. This new one is unfinished so I've been learning how to polish it

Yeah, Radius looks to be the ticket. Does someone have to run the Radius air box as well? Looks like the shorter entry might be ok with non Radius air boxes.

Stopped by Cruiser Outfitters to buy some stuff for my 200 and made an impulse purchase... just can't beat a classic ARB. Plus I forgot how easy the install is, if I ever find a bumper I like more i'll just zip off a few bolts and replace it. Didn't take many pics of the process cause there isn't much to see.

Installed it myself but it was no problem, frame rails seem straight and it slid right on.

I didn't really plan ahead so I don't have a winch or lights. Probably get a Comeup in the future and a couple round aux lights. Maybe do something about the AC dryer hanging down too if I can track down the parts to relocate it to the battery box.
