That wall looks amazing. Material is pine? Will you finish it with anything?
Thanks! It is pine and I have a pecan stain to apply to it. Although I may just clear coat it.

@Michael B that is some tedious work…. Your lines are arrow straight! I know how quickly I could make this go bad. Wanted slatwall in my pole barn but as we spoke before…it isn’t an inexpensive option compared to pegboard. I never thought of doing it like this. Nice job

Nice! Will it take standard slat wall hooks/etc or something different? Looks like slats might be thicker than regular slat wall.
Thank you sir! I’m not sure ab hooks. The wall is made of 1x4 and 1x2 materials.

Thanks Al! It’s not as tedious as you might think. I used a 1“x2”x8’ on edge, after making sure the first couple of rows were running level, it was just rinse and repeat.

After working a 14 hour day on Saturday I didn’t get a lot done this weekend. And I ran short of materials on Sunday afternoon.

Yesterday while working at a customers house I noticed an old “Skin on Frame” kayak that had not been used for a long time. Long story short she was willing to let it go and we came to terms. Now I have another project 🙄

It’s a 14’ 8” touring kayak constructed of Sitka Spruce and Honduran Mahogany, covered in vinyl. It was built in 1975 by a Boy Scout as a merit badge project.

It needs a new skin and a little wood refurbishment but it is complete. I think for the near future I will strip the skin, assess the frame and hang it in the shop until I get ready to restore it.

Got it stripped and stowed. Then it was time for some yard work.

@Michael B I believe you said we were close in age? The only thing I did today was watch 6 hours of Netflix!!…. Where does this drive come from?

Al I’m 62 just trying to stay ahead of the casket lid ;). I only got in 15,125 steps today. I have alway been very active. You don’t even want to know how I am currently earning a living.

Michael, I just turned 70. 5 months ago I felt 35… I have no idea how it caught up to me but the last few months I have been a little tired. I congratulate you on the new personal trainer job !! 😉

My FJ45 should be here in a few weeks and I am planning on some substantial upgrades. Likely a mental thing but I am hoping it will re-energize my motivations. You've got some nice opportunities in your shop ! Keep up the cool work.

By the way, took the family to Disney a few months ago… my wife and I did 15,000 steps the first day..then we rented scooters the rest of the time. My daughter is 40, she did 33,000 steps almost every day. The trainer at her gym called her a machine.

I took a break from working on the shop this weekend to work in the shop. I tried my blast cabinet with new air compressor. Wow, what a difference the extra CFM makes. My cabinet requires 15 CFM and my old compressor only made 11.5 CFM. The new compressor will push 20 CFM @ 90 psi.

I also moved the GMC into the shop since major construction has been completed. Now all of my trucks are indoors. 🤓

Very cool that it’s over spec. I remember spending many hours inching my way along before I’d gotten my 2 stage compressor. Nice that things will get done within a decent few hours work…!

It made very short work of 5 very crusty parts. It would have taken an hour to accomplish the same job with my old compressor. The new compressor knocked it out in about 20 min.

This weekend was another distraction from working on the shop.

This maple tree has been on my “to do” list for about 2 years. The roots are all running above ground, making it very difficult to mow around the tree and they are heading for the driveway. It is also soaking up all of the water so grass won’t grow under it. Yesterday after mowing and lunch, I broke out my chainsaw.
