If you havent seen a zip tie fail, you haven't used them much. That solenoid box has a fair amount of mass and the movement off-road will eventually cause the zipties to fail. But it's your truck, do what makes you happy. Lots of things being held together with bubble gum and bailing wire too.

So you think a little jagged plastic will ruin a synthetic line……thanks for the tip. I just started all this off road stuff. It’s great to have pro tips.

If I cared enough I would show you how the control box ended up and how I secured it but I need to get to the mall. Thanks for the help.

I really don’t expect to be using this tool much. I have other Land Cruisers for the dirty work but it’s there if I need it.

have you ever even used a winch offroad? I mean really used one? You know there’s these things called rocks and trees right?

I tell people all the time to build their Cruisers for the way they use them 90% of the time not the 10% …..

I’m not going to run a rack on this thing. I have some things that will allow me to put crossbars on the OE rack if I need to haul my 100# hard shell tent…..

I took a long trip today and came home and yanked the rack. Anyone need a FrontRunner?

Smart move IMHO. I love the look and utility like the next guy but the wind noise and added drag suck, especially with the FR rack, it sits too proud of the roofline.

Back when I began with FrontRunner they sold a nice little channel that replaced the rubber track. It put the wind dam right on the roofline. This truck has zero wind noise.

I wish they still sold this setup.

My other Front Runners with rain gutter legs are not bad either.

I just did a 1000 mile trip.

Removing the rack was money. No wind noise.

I agree with the FR rack which is why I went Dissent. However, there's still noise, but I'm running the Adapt bar and fairing so I got what I asked for. Great write-up. You've inspired me to head out that way. I'm still waiting on an air compressor to come in.... But excuses

I’m 50% on mess ups. So far the drawers and that hidden winch are my only good mods

Yeah, I agree on the swing outs, they are a pain, other than my 40, I only have one on an 80 with 35's and the 28 gallon LRA.

The inconvenience of stopping was enough for me to add the 12.5 gallon to my 200 and keep the spare in the stock location, it is enough to make most fuel stops at my convenience and give a couple hundred mile trail ride enough margin to get me to the next fuel.

Enjoy, they are great Cruisers for the long trips and out to dinner and really only limited by girth off road, but when it comes down to real trails, short trips, general errands etc., I prefer my more vintage rigs, at least that is my excuse to have more than one!
