This was a VERY passionate love of mine …. Before the depression there were 200+ American motorcycle manufacturers. By 1933, Harley-Davidson volume production dropped to just over 3200 bikes. When the US emerged from the financial crisis , there were less than 5 US Manufacturers still producing motorcycles

HOPEFULLY you can stretch or zoom on this list….

Well, St. Louis got hit with a tornado yesterday and we had high wind, which dropped a tree on our road, right over the power lines. They're saying 2 or 3 days to get to us due to the St. Louis mess. Time to hook up the military generator trailer to the house and get power back. Stand by.

A farmer is always prepared…generator!! Well done Ron. My father-in-law was a farmer in upstate NY and that was him. We live in Las Vegas now and really need a generator for backup. If we lost power in the summer we would cook like bacon…pun intended. The only kind that might work for us might be a natural gas generator but not sure that would be ideal??? Or worth it???

Great asset to have. We have a 50KW propane generator which comes on automatically. Our power almost never goes out but it sure is nice to have power when it does. Hope you get power back sooner than 2 or 3 days.

Hurricane Sandy knocked us off line for 13 days. My son worked for Lowe’s and we were able to get hold of a 10kw genny. It was a real blessing to have heat, well, and lights along with FiOS TV and internet..

Sure we’re spoiled. My amateur radio club has a 1940 20kw trailer mounted genny that we used for field day ( a communications event world wide) had to keep 1000w incandescent bulbs lit to act as a resistive load

I did a 12kw Nat Gas as our power goes out a ton, auto transfer switch, keeps the well and heat going no problem along with almost everything else we want to use within reason.
I suppose the only issue with Nat Gas is if we get an earthquake I doubt it’ll be there 🤷🏼‍♂️

It depends on how big of a SHTF event you are prepping for. If everything goes down the Natural Gas won't be flowing. I started a solar power project a couple years ago, as you know, I was hauling home the solar panels when I snapped the rear axle shaft in the 55. I need to finish the project soon.

We keep our travel trailer somewhat stocked year round, if things really get ugly we could bug out with it I suppose. Hard to be covered for all events without being a full “prepper”

You are more prepared than most of the country. Most people have their head up their azz and think nothing could go wrong. We've just gotten lazy and life is too convenient. I'm not saying I'd like to go back to the 1800s, but it's fun to be tested once in a while, just to know you could survive. Running a generator is easy, it will get real when the diesel runs out.

I store three 50 gallon drums of water in my garage plus we have a years supply of dehydrated food in our pantry. Also a few backpack 72 hour kits that we can grab and go if we had to get out fast.

Keep up the good preps, you guys are among the few who have a fighting chance to handle most situations. This Winter we broke a water line going down to the barn and had to shut off the well for 9 days. I turned the well on each morning to water the animals, but all our water at the house, came from a 525 gallon tank in the basement. In 9 days we used @ 125 gallons, no showers, just cooking, hand washing, toilet, etc. It really makes you think about no water.
