Hey, did the EGT probe end up beeing a success ?
Yes sir, I believe it’s in a good spot. Just took these two pictures and you can tell by the dust it’s been about 15+ months since I’ve worked on this project. Hoping this winter to get back on it and hopefully it’s pulling the 62 down the road by the spring :).

I've noticed you have put this in the side with the 3 rear cylinders? I installed mine just forward of that without thinking.
In practice my EGT readings have never been as low as others have indicated they get on this forum. My feeling is the
rear 3 might, prior to blending of gases run slightly hotter than front three.
What gauge are you going to run with this probe? I have a Westach Dual EGT/Boost and it failed so I installed
a replacement. I like the old swing gauge style.

Westach Dual EGT
I´ve been looking at those, love the style! My current EGT gauge went dead and I’m looking for a dual model .
What failed on yours?

Never to be rushed these things. i sorta had to rush swap my 12ht last year, and there’s all those little things i didnt get done while the donor engine was out. so now i have the high milage one on a pallet, the low milage one in the 61.
When the engine was out, i found the input shaft on the h55f had some wear on the tip, pilot bearing probably seized...
-so i stole the h55f from the donor 60. Glad to have manual trasfer case, but maan was that box noisy! 🙈
Some constant white noise from the transfer case and a more high pitched in 3rd and 5th.
i can see some of my future in the oil of that gearbox.

I will get a pic of the guage for you when I’m in the shop this evening

I've seen that too, just by IR and temp check directly on the manifold.
I figured it was due to the longer travel for the coolant.

The EGT readings went wild. Ruined a trip as it would be fine for a while, then on a hill it would stick at 1300F.
Scared the crap out of me. I was all over with the throttle trying to figure out why all of a sudden I was getting
really inconsistent readings. The engine ran fine, but even an engine doesn't like being throttled all over either.
Anyhow, it was a long arctic trip cut short. Ironic as the negative rectifier inexplicably broke clean in two! So
3 days home with no charge. Gotta love the 12HT can run without any electical power if needed.

The rear coolant also is much warmer to heat the cabin. I plugged the rear coolant stack to simplify my cooling when I removed
the underseat rear heater. I wonder if I allowed that coolant to flow it would cool the rear of the head better and overall
cooling would be better?

Make sure the thermocouple probe for the EGT is long enough. I can't remember for certain, if the post I'm about to
make is the one I use but I believe it is as it's quite long. 2 1/4"

I had the similar Autometer gauge go bad on me, but mine was naturally in celcius.
I will continue looking for a 24 volt dual gauge. So if anyone knows a analog EGT/boost gauge (preferable with 24v but 12v can be done)
I believe these might work for you. J But not analog I guess. Hard enough to find 24V

Yeah, Auber is on the list, as it's capable of both 12 or 24v.
I'm just not hyped on that style. I thought I would find more of the 24v setups since trucks/semis here all are 24.
