I can't take the hose off the clutch slave cylinder.

I'm using a 17mm open box wrench.
I've sprayed it with stuff to loosen bolts.
I've tried removing the hose while the cylinder was mounted and unmounted.
I've searched the forum for a solution.

Any of you experienced mechanics have advice for this amateur??

Thanks!

In your case I would now use what is called a ' flare wrench'. Napa will have a set and Sears can order a set.

I would not try any more with a regular open end wrench. Right now the corners seem to be in ok shape, but much more trying with a regular wrench and you will round the corners.

A flare wrench is almost like a boxed end wrench but open on one side so you can use it in places like what you have and brake lines etc. You can put a LOT of torque on it w/o fear of rounding the nut/bolt.

A flare wrench will solve your problem.

A bit of heat...propane torch sparingly applied can work wonders, just keep it focused on the metal cylinder, can wrap a wet rag around the hose to help protect it.

Bolt it back up. Cut the Hose. Use a box wrench or vise grips to remove. Use a new SS braided clutch slave ( called release now, because slave is not PC) hose available from Specter off road.

If you just want a rubber hose as replacement (I'd replace that 34 year old hose no matter what), this is a cheap direct replacement :

DORMAN H77376

Should be $10 at Oreilly's Vatozone, etc ... But the braided lines are bomb-proof.

Also, if you cut the hose, you could put the cylinder in a vise.

Are you replacing the Slave Cylinder ? If yes, cut the hose and throw it all away.

I made things really hard for myself and it's been a battle. I destroyed the clutch tube but at least I have a replacement on hand.

Anyway, this is the last thing in my way. This is where the clutch hard tube and the clutch hose meets. How the hell do I take it off? It spins and there's nothing to hold on to on the other side.

I'm so close!

pry the wishbone tab off the female threaded part.
its in a slot that holds it in position.
once the tab is removed the female end will slide out of the hole.

Where does that washer go? I just guessed and used it on the "release" cylinder end.

It's been a while, but IIRC that copper gasket is for the fitting that goes into the slave cylinder, so seems like you guessed correctly - or we're both wrong :p

Late to the party but running in to the same issue. Can’t get the cable into the new slave cylinder. Decided I’d take it from the top and screw it into the slave, then put it back in to the hydraulic line but can’t figuee out the size. Got a 10mm line wrench on it but it’s not turning

Put the hose nut in a vice upside down with the slave cylinder pointing to the sky. The turn the slave cylinder, not the nut
Remove the bleed fitting first.
