Well the Ol 2F spun a rod bearing and since I have all this Chevy stuff laying around I figured its time to make the change. Early 350 4 bolt main, Built turbo350 Right now we are in the stages of cleaning everything up. Plan is new gaskets, seals and paint. This is going to be a slow process I will post updates as we go. In advance I gotta Thank Georg @orangefj45 and Bob @brooksfj60 and our other local Cruiser brother's Matt and Olen. Should be a good time LOL

Nice! Should be an interesting build. Plans to keep the original carb or will you be going TBI or one of the new EFI units from Howell/Holley/FiTech?

For now just the original carb. Keep this build on a tight budget LOL

Rob hello! Well we all know you can do it. Will be watching.

Wait, what???

How many miles when you spun that bearing?
Had to say, It was from another parts 60 I had. As far as smog goes I'll figure something out LOL

You should ditch that th350, you want overdrive

Do you have biennial inspection in your county Rob? @lcwizard have a good point, the engine should be newer from what I can remember.
Good luck on the swap and keep us posted and pics.

For all the work its going to take, just do a LS engine. It is a better engine in every way. At the very least do a TBI engine with a 700r4. An old carbed 350 and three speed wll cause you to not want to drive the 60 very often.

Thanks guys for all the suggestions. Just a low key swap. Here's the thing I have all the parts The only thing I'm putting money out for are gaskets, seals and a rebuild kit for the Turbo 350. Everything I own is old school. From our FJ45 to my 40's I am OK with this.

You can even run an LS on a carb if you’re scared of wiring. But I agree with the others, LS is better in every way. You don’t have to spend crazy money on a crate motor.

It's not the wiring Matt. Like i said I have everything already here. I happy with my choice Heck 20 years ago this was a great upgrade. And some of those rigs are still running strong.

Putting in an engine older than the vehicle is crazy in California. And so is saying "I'll figure something out". I don't know the California rules, but I think not only won't you be able to pass smog, you won't be able to sell it either. JMHO.
