Removed the corvette regulator? So Run a return line properly (all the way from the EFI back) to the TankInc in tank pump assembly?
Just wanted to verify. We hope to learn from your wisdom.

I had issues with that truck stalling. Put the regular return on it and it fixed it. None of my personal trucks have the corvette return so that was the fix I knew

Saginaw Power Steering
Steering part 2

This time I’m doing it right with a bad ass AGR 4.25 Saginaw box and a 4 Plus Saginaw kit with some Cruiser Outfitter parts to make this thing all steer perfectly

@AGR Steering provides the beautiful box with beef

Next step is to plasma out the hole for the Saginaw to pass through the frame. Some use a hole saw but that sucks. I use a plasma and cut both sides of the frame out from the front.

These smaller borgeson joints fit nicely into the inner part of the frame.

Next step is to clean it all up and burn it in.

Got the column done and the geometry right

Enter Cruiser Outfitters (more from them later)

Cut your main shaft just above the old steering box. This is the length I cut them. It needs a cut off wheel. This shaft laughs at a porta band

Next I drill out the center of this bushing and it makes the shaft much easier ti

I attach the lower DD shaft into the splines on the box then feed it up and then adjust the upper DD tube and the main column until clearance is right.

Last parts you will need are a conversion drag link and conversion rod end from Cruiser Outfitters and a 1.5-2” drop Pitman arm.

My buddy @under_psi came over and laid down some pretty welds for me.

You need to clearance one side of the front spring hanger

I run the flap disc around the steering shaft to make sure the weld on end will slide on easily

I was able to get this box more level than the last one because the seal on the output was smaller downside to that is that it was putting the small DD into the motor mount Instead of redoing all the front we decided to clearance the motor mount

We picked up about 1” forward on the steering wheel and the 4 Plus plate puts it up about 1” higher. Tacked in

The 2” drop Pitman arm is too much for this one. Going to order a 1” drop Monday.

The system is all in. Plumbed and ready.

Tomorrow I’ll get the Tcase shifter in and bolt in the hump then add gas.

Maybe we can hear it breath tomorrow

@AGR Steering recommends their brand, this one and a Delco. I used up all of the AGR I had on hand but I found this local

Swepco was our go to fluid company when I was doing Porsche’s and German cars. We used to have Audi’s come in with noisy lifters, a lil swepco additive and they would go quiet in 10 seconds!! Good stuff! Your build threads are going to be a great reference for folks that might be intimidated to jump in and do these mods. And it will be here for years to reference!🍺👍

Thank you sir. I try to overdocument to help myself when I do a project again and of course to help other wayward souls.

The only sketchy thing I’ve got going today is the -an 6 PS line. The barb going into the hose was the correct size but the Summit fitting I used would not go over the outer webbing.

I cut back the webbing and got down to the metal jacket and it worked fine. Of course I’ve not put the pressure to it.

Luckily I have enough Earl’s hose to make another one. I’ll order the right fittings next week from AGR when I get the pitman arm

Meanwhile I finally caught this bastard slipping out of my roof tonight. He’s been on the most wanted list for a week

Spent the morning adding the Tcase shifter I got from Classic Cruisers as well as the boots and such.

Bolted in the hump.

Added 4 gallons.

Stabbed the DUI and plugged the Live Wires.

Steering column in and up is a perfect mod to a 45. Adds a little breathing room. If you were taller I'd tell you to raise the seat.

I actually took padding out of my drivers seat back and it is just perfect now with the column up and forward. Even a big boy will fit in here now.

My daughter approves
