Aight. So much to report.

After firing up I was dealing with a ton of smoke. I freaked out a bit but remembered I flipped it all over with oil still in the motor. The more it runs the cleaner it’s burning. I still have poofs at hard acceleration.

Put the seat in and the bottom hit the in-tank pump pretty hard. I smacked it with a hammer and it was still resting on the metal. I decided to add lift blocks to the front of the seat and fixed that.

Next I took my time and wired everything back up and installed my fender wiring. Double checked fluids. Let it idle some and adjusted out the IAC

I installed the cup holder and grabbed a bitch beer and went to burn the brakes in Cuzy via @RocketCityCrzrs

The shifter just kisses the seat in reverse. I bent it as much as I was comfortable with in the truck and called it good

I am SUPER happy to report the 4 wheel discs with FJ80 master and No booster is a great setup. Thanks @JackA and sorry I ever doubted you. I have no proportion valve and the rear just slightly goes before the front but you can really only tell if you lock it up going downhill. This setup easily locks up the brakes. Very solid.
I stayed close to the farm for the first drive. So far so good.

The ass sits up just right even with 3 leafs out of the pack. I’ll load it up with firewood soon as see how it handles it

Temps Are perfect. Never saw over 190. IAC is dialed in good. Direct wire internal regulator alternator is putting out perfectly. (Ignore timing; that’s not hooked up)

The only mod the PO made was this old school oil pressure gauge. I tapped the F housing I used when I 86ed the oil cooler and ran a new cooler line and pressure is perfect

Back in the shop and I’ll look it over some more before I go for the first road trip

The split case, 255s and 3.70s are smooth and quiet on the road. I saw 75mph with no
Issues. Very nice. Very happy. The lizard skin also have cut back so much heat on the floor as well.

The Mosley Motors Kit is simple and clean. I need to get an intake hose at some point. A few more tweaks here and there. So far so good.

Dang, didn’t even think about having the motor flipped as being a contributor to my smoke issue. Brilliant!

BTW, from that look on your daughter’s face, you‘re no longer the owner of GOAT. Might as well give it up now, the pain is coming. 😝

I did not drain all the oil out of mine when I flipped it over to remove the oil pan. It was a huge mess.
I’ve put about 15 miles in it and it seems to be mostly clear. I could maybe give it a little drink of this Swepco PS fluid if it does not clear itself up :D

complicated little narrative here, but I’ll just highlight it.

Last weekend I had engine issues with my 60. At one point we thought it was the Sniper so we tossed a new one on it. Was not the issue but since I had installed a new Sniper on my 60 and it was running better than ever with it, I decided to put the 1 year old Sniper from Ole Blue on the Goat (issue was fuel delivery)

So yesterday during tuning I found that the Goat was doing the same thing the 60 had done in the past. Pulled hard at full throttle through 3rd bit in 4th, if you smashed the throttle it would bog down until you went back to 50-60% throttle.

Well, turns out I had one more new in box Sniper here at the shop so I tossed it on the Goat and took it for a spin just now.

Holy hell this thing rips now. Im really kind of shocked at the power it has. Most all of my Snioer experience is in heavy wagons and full hard top 40s.so this thing is likely the lightest truck and best tuned one I’ve ever driven.

I will get some videos up soon. Right now all I can say is wow.

During one of my shipments of stuff from @jmlockwood for his 45 build he sent me an 8274 from an unknown source. I unwrapped it and immediately shot down the idea of using it on Rotunda because it literally looked like it had been buried in the mud for the last 24 years.

I tossed it in my container and forgot about it

While I was digging out stuff to ship to some people for him and I decided I’d give it a shot for the Goat.

When I cracked open the box where the controller was packed away I found this mess.

I bought a $300 complete control pack from Amazon and $250 worth of 150’ winch rope and the Goat has a Warren Wench now

Nice work, keen to try the Sniper down here. Didn't wanna go 60 steer? It sits behind the bib.

If I could get a new (not resealed) 60/80 box. Maybe. I like the Saginaw the best.

Got the new PS hose made today with the proper fittings for the hose.
@cruiseroutfit is sending me a 1.5” drop Pitman arm so I can get a better angle on this drag link.
Once it is here I’m going to dial in my steering once and for all and go get it checked and aligned

PS. I have a timing gear cover leak. I’m so sad. None of my other Cruisers leak. That’s on me. I did the seal. Pisses me off.

Sorry if I missed it. Can you please share details on winch mounting and winch plate you used? Love the OEM number look.

Spent the afternoon cleaning up the top and doors after they have been hanging in the shop for almost 2 years. The old drivetrain did not warrant many long drives but now I want to hit the road in this thing and I like a top
And doors for that.

Added the doors back with some @SMG door pins.

This thing either got heavier in the last 2 years or I’ve gotten old 🤦‍♂️

The motor runs incredibly strong. I still see a puff or two of smoke but I don’t think it’s an issue.

We did 250 miles today of interstate, 2 track paved and muddy gravel

Smooth. Steady. Tracks great. Corners great.

I easily got it up to 85 mph. 3000 RPM gets you 80 mph. Smooth and steady with only 36% throttle

Stops are nice and even. More leg needed than with power brakes but these easily lock up if needed

Best of all.....the thing was not thirsty at all. Over 14 mpg. That’s about 2 mpg better than my wagons with snipers.

I have two identical power steering setups on my 45 and 40.

@AGR Steering 4.25 turn box and OEM Toyota PS pump.

My 40 steers so smooth and effortlessly. The 45 seems labored. I was thinking it was possibly the larger tires but yesterday we put a Brand new 60 pump on a truck with 105# 34” tires and it pushed those monsters lock to lock on pavement.

Looks like I have a bad pump.

I had a new (rebuilt) pump in my stash and chocked it all up and reinstalled in the truck and lo and behold. The freaking pressure valve has different threads than the one I took out making my AN hose adapter useless

Who knew? Pumps look the same.

Maddening.
