The United Arab Emirates Dirham is pegged to the US Dollar of approx 3.67 AED to 1 USD but it could be Yen to AED fluctuations.

Edited to add, I had to check...fluctuations between AED/USD and the Yen is minimal over the last week.

And that assuming that PARTSOUQ are getting their parts exclusively from DXB warehouses.

The GCC is large area with lots of countries selling and trading Toyota spare parts.

This isn’t merely a “I see it on PARTSOUQ” kind of thing.

That makes more sense. I was thinking JPY - USD. makes more sense if there's smaller countries involved in trade

It obviously an expensive part so just nice to get a little perceived break, especially considering NLA at Impex and $4000 at local dealer!

Course with my luck they'll be $700 tomorrow.

Has anyone tried to replace the recirculating ball valve into an older housing with the 105 shaft upgrade and rebuild supplies. Impex shows the valve with balls part# 4412060180 as available at around 300 bucks iirc. Plus the shaft pitman arm and supples would put you at about 1000 bucks.

This would get you all new wear parts as the balls in the valve body account for a lot of wear and slop that is felt in “rebuilt” boxes as I understand it.
Has anyone ordered this part from Impex for the price of $360?

I'll 100% second this. @COYS inspired me to purchase a brand new oem box. Mind you absolutely every suspension component is dialed in on my rig, but I can cruise SoCal Freeways at 85 on 35" KM3's and can change lanes with the tip of my finger. It's effortless and drives on rails.

This comment has me just about sold. I've dealt with steering play for so long that I'm used to it. But my wife of 4 years won't drive it (a good thing?) because it feels so unsafe to her. Now, does anyone have a solid mechanic in So Cal that will let me bring in my own box and they will do the install right? I'm in the Los Angeles area but don't mind traveling for someone solid. My mechanic is a solid Toyota/Lexus guy, but even he told me, this is a PITA job.

It's not that bad if you have the tools :p

As long as there's no rust involved! Or no one previously has effed with it.
So Cal what rust. but Ya
I have done a few no issue's :p

When they go to Utah and across a wild river and get stuck in the river😁 red mud all over and they didn't wash it.
IH8 when that happens 😜

And, as long as there's no cracks in the frame
That’s a separate issue.
Again as long as you have the tools that can be fix to.
As long as there’s no rust, no one’s has effed with it or driven it through a wild river in Utah
😂🤪🤣

I should have been more clear on the rust, the gushing River they got stuck in was flowing red clay. Apparently it's really corrosive to metal.

As much as I'd love to tackle this project, this is outside my comfort zone. And then there's the time. I got your DM and I'll be giving you a call Vic in the near future. Thanks!

Well... I ended up biting the bullet on a redhead box. As much as I wanted to get a new one from japan I wasnt sure my box would hold together long enough for it to come in. I can say that so far I have been impressed with redhead's service. Fingers crossed that I dont have issues with it. I redid the entire PS system over the weekend as well as the Delta VS frame supports and the gearbox. I have basically 0 mechanical knowledge and I took this on primarily by myself. Once you start getting it taken apart you realize its not that complicated and reassembly is pretty straight forward. I had to buy $100 in tools but probably saved myself a grand at least. Definitely would recommend anybody on the fence about doing it themself to go ahead and try it. Thanks everyone for all the tips and knowledge in this thread.

I sent my box up the road to RedHead 3 or four years ago. It came came back with the 105 shaft and ported like yours. I’ve had zero issues with it and don't expect to. They do millions of steering gears; two people post complaints and that triggers others into fearfulness of buying their product. Rather silly in my opinion.

Did you do that brace welding yourself? It looks top notch….

I'm glad to hear yours is has been solid. And I completely agree with you on the bad apples theory.

Thanks for the compliment, I didn't do the welding myself. I have a buddy that welds for a living that I was able to call in. He doesn't do automotive stuff but I get to convince him otherwise occasionally.

😆 Millions, Two 😂

Don't get me started :p

I do think there a valuable option  and my WTOR box has also be great for the last 6 to 8 years !

@97HM I was just gonna say, "no mechanical experience" my ass! I OWN a structural steel fab shop and that's a good a weld as I've seen my best guys do! Very nice work. Now you make me think I could do this, lol. What was the turn around time from Readhead? And the $1M question...does the steering feel brand new? I'm still leaning towards getting a brand new box and keeping my 145K old box on the shelf.

Okay, here is a dumb question...if I'm not rock crawling, are the Delta reinforcement brackets do anything for regular drive quality? I'm assuming they will prevent cracks when the front wheels are twisted like a pretzel. Just debating whether I should do this upgrade while I've got the steering box off.
