Thanks everyone. I'll PM those who've responded. If anyone else wants to contribute just PM me.

I started working on an FSM update this morning. In the hopes of making this available for others to do themselves in the future, as well as to allow people to build a local copy and PDFs of really any FSM for any Toyota/Lexus/Scion vehicle, I'm posting the scripts I used as well as the instructions on Github at:

Right now my initial scripts are version 0.1, as I just took the stuff I had from 3 years ago, stripped out any local URLs, paths, or credentials into a config file, and then uploaded the whole thing. This is probably incomplete and quite possibly broken, and it almost surely does little if any error checking, but it might allow anyone interested in playing with the FSM download scripts to get started. I'll update on Github as I fix/add stuff along the way, though I won't necessarily re-post here until perhaps I have a user-friendly option somewhere down the line.

Merry New Year! It's beef jerky time...

With some much appreciated financial contributions from @greynolds, @grinchy, @CharlieS, @bloc, @Dunbar, @i4c4lo, @bemerritt, @clearmysix, and especially @Leelanau, I've been able to get a new TIS subscription and do an FSM update this holiday season. The updated FSM includes all US docs through 2021, as well as non-US models through ~2015. Specifically:
  • 200-series LC/LX US models 2008 through 2021, and non-US (EMEA, GCC, AUS) from ~2007-2015
  • All 100-series LC models (US and non-US) and all US LX models 1998-2007
  • All 80-series USA LC/LX models 1991-1997
  • Official USA FJ62 1990 docs
  • All the unofficial and semi-official PDF docs for the 40-series and 60-series that I know of that are floating out there.
As with the old version that many of you have, the new one includes both the online web-browsable docs as well as some massive PDF files with the same data. And just like the last version, I generally recommend using the web-browsable version whenever possible - the PDF files are thousands of pages and not indexed, but I suggest saving a copy of the PDFs to your phone or tablet so that if you break down on a trail and don't have internet service you can still view them and do text searches.

To get the updated FSM, this time I'm going to ask everyone in the mud community to help provide it. I've made the FSM available as a .torrent file, which will allow people to download from the pool of available members, and will allow anyone who downloads to help the rest of the community by optionally being part of the pool of members providing copies to others.

To get started, just add the following link to any bittorrent client. If you don't have a bittorrent client, I recommend using Transmission as it's free, light weight, and doesn't include any spyware.

magnet:?xt=urn:btih:cf1ba674b5796aade66d13a51e7f4c56b8fb9195&dn=TheCompleteTLCFSM2021.iso&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Ftracker.openbittorrent.com%3A6969&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Ftracker.opentrackr.org%3A1337%2Fannounce

Once you've downloaded if you want to help "seed" the pool for other downloaders, just leave your client running in the background. Transmission has some nice features so you can limit the number of clients and the upload speed or available time windows (in case you want to minimize the impact during the day but let people download at full speed while you're asleep). Just remember to make sure you select "Seed Forever" in the settings, otherwise you'll stop helping the community once two people have downloaded it from you.

Once you have downloaded the FSM .ISO file, you will need to set up a local web server in order to make the docs viewable. (Don't bother trying to just browse the ISO file, the website using Javascript and won't work locally in most modern browsers due to their security features). For most people I recommend using the Abyss webserver to do this. You can follow the instructions posted here:

Finally, since the 200-series is complete, this will likely be the last FSM update that I do. If you want an FSM for your future LX 600, GX, 4Runner, Tacoma, Supra, etc what I've done is posted the source code used to download and create the FSM, along with some rough instructions on how to do so in the following link. Feel free to use this to build your own custom FSM with any Toyota/Lexus/Scion vehicle you'd like.

I’ll be seeding later today, then off and on as my schedule allows.

Thanks again for doing this!

Thanks for doing this! I can seed today as well. If anyone ever is trying to download and needs seeders, just PM me

edited to add: Seeding right now, happy to see 2 people already downloading!

Quick question, if you already have the old file and you download the new, do i only need to replace the ISO that I am mounting in order to update my system? I will set up a seed as well once I get home and get it downloaded. I have pretty limited upload as I'm still on DSL, but every little bit helps.

Thanks again for doing all the work on this project.

Yep if you already have Abyss set up, you can just delete the old ISO and mount this one in its place.

Honestly for your 2010 LX there's no real benefit to you for the newer ISO, as I only updated the 2016-2021 docs for LX and LC... though if you want to download it so you can help seed downloads for others please feel free!

We went through an iteration over the holidays while testing. As @linuxgod describes I had no trouble just unmounting, downloading the new iso, and mounting as the same drive letter. Didn't have to change anything in the web server, the replacement was seamless.

Thank you again @linuxgod !!

Anyone having problems with the BitTorrent "transmission" and using a Mac? I can install the BitTorrent without issue, but cannot find anything using the link:

Did you do "File -> Open URL" and paste that link. I just started it and there are 3 people I'm downloading from. I'm not a MAC user. Is there a firewall in the OS, or possibly on your network that is blocking it? Windows definitely was going to block my application after I installed it. I had to allow connectivity.

In transmission on MacOS, Command + U will open a window that you paste the whole link in to.

For those unfamiliar with torrenting, many software packages come default with a leech/seed ratio where after you've uploaded the equivalent of a full copy, it will cancel uploading or "seeding". At this early stage of making a file available with so few seeds it helps a lot to make sure this ratio is significantly higher than 1:1, or just disabled.

Also a lot of other features in most software, things like bandwidth limits for up/down. Just dig around in the settings.

thank you! Looks like this was the ticket!

I am following the instructions now to setup an Abyss webserver on my home network. I am trying to download the ISO but it's not making any progress. I haven't tried to download via torrent in a very very long time so I don't know if I just need to be patient and wait for one of the peers to come online. Any hints are appreciated.

there should be at least one seed now . . .

Mine should be seeding 24/7 and I have a fast connection, but I haven't seen any peers connected yet. Not sure why as my settings shouldn't prevent peers from connecting and downloading.

I just made mine available.

Sorry, walked away from the computer for a few. I restarted the download but it still says 0 peers. I just cut/pasted the entire "magnet" line farther up in the thread.

Some firewall settings can get in the way of torrenting. I'd just start searching online for troubleshooting torrenting on your application and OS. It could be a ton of things, but they often have logical steps to go through to figure it out.

Mine is announcing to two trackers, and shows 4 peers online. So people do have the file available.
