BTW: Thinking of running a silicone bead around both ends like I did in my 8274 motor, anyone see why I shouldn't?

Should be OK, but you live in Texas so why worry about moisture? Jeez, I've always wanted a Pig but without a garage in this wet climate it probably wouldn't survive for long.

Well Pablo, I owe you a beer ... decided what the heck and tore it apart this morning to find this:

Spent a little time with the Emory cloth and 3M paint and rust wheel and ended up with this:

Added a little dielectric grease to it and buttoned it back up (that depth set screw is genius btw) and what do you know, she spins like a champ. Hopefully she still has enough gas to move that big window, we'll see when I get it all back together.

Note to self, need outer TG rubber to keep this from happening again :-(

Today would be a good day to seal it up, nice and dry. I'd go for the silicone.

Make sure you use one of the automotive gasket makers. If I'm not mistaken run of the mill silicone gives off acetic acid as it cures, which would promote corrosion.

Hope to get to it soon, have been slowed down by some back issues that are going to get worse before getting better :-(. Got to spend some time in the garage today, replaced the rear brake cylinders that were leaking. Also found a better lower radiator hose and took the opportunity to replace the thermostat and install a Toyota temp sender so my gauge will work. Lots more loose ends than I had anticipated, she's coming along though -

Not much to post on the pig lately, just threw a whole bunch of kindling on the fire though so watch for some action soon. Got to replace my rear brake cylinders ...

Still getting some leaking from the bottom bolt on the rear junction block under the master, ordered a new Aisin master to install this weekend I also replaced my oil pan gasket and installed a Toyota sending unit on the motor via adapter. This was also repeated with the cooling system, found a better lower radiator hose and drilled and tapped the block plug for the Toyota sender. Had to buy this bad boy to remove the plug ...

On a more fun front, got some AWL_TEQ goodness in the mail from the great white north. Cleaned up and painted the front frame rails to install these ...

Stay tuned for the reason I needed those frame extensions, it's off at the powder coating shop along with the grill, headlight surrounds, and fender vents. Will be cleaning up and painting the black area behind the grill while I wait ... might be a good time to install some other goodies from the parts stash?

Hint ... I needed a way to put this bad boy up front ...

Nobody makes what I needed anymore, so I had to improvise Pics next week when it comes back from PC. As far as the scuff plates, anything will be an upgrade to what I don't have currently. I was never a big fan of the factory aluminum pieces though, the custom ones looked good to me!
