$$$ but nice. I saw the gulf wing windows last night for the first time after reading the Marley thread.

As soon as you mentioned the busted window, I thought it would be time for an upgrade to sliding rears.

Yeah it's not gonna be first on the list. The storage it would create seems priceless. I wanted the sliding windows anyway, but just not this quick.

id run tires/rims that are available down there. Something 10 ply load rated E only. the tire is not for looks. Function only.

I have 235/85/R16 tires. Which is a common size out there. Its a big tire and near 33 inches diameter. But is super strong for back roads. I bet you will drive on more rough roads than complete trails.

For batteries see the diesel section on mud. Also look at getting a turbo.

I like to only use one battery. the second battery should be isolated and available for emergencies or winching. Modern batteries have no issues starting a BJ60 with on battery. I have been using a group 65 battery as it is large.

So here's what happen to the window: we hit a super large bump at 60mph causing my giant and heavy Yeti cooler to bounce up and smash into the center of the window and thus shattering it! Here's a pic after I put tape on it so all the glass wouldn't fall out.

Yes sir that is a bummer! The GPS took us right past the falls and we stopped by on the way back. Very cool and beautiful falls. We hiked a mile up to the top of the falls too which might not have been the smartest idea since we had to drive 33hrs still. Absolute beautiful area!

Well one of the bumps here in Colorado just shattered one of the back side windows on the BJ!!! So I guess I'm in need of one of those asap if anyone has one laying around. Frustrating!

You know where to get it,luckely glass do not rust so this part is good on my BJ60

I would not get sliding windows for Latin or Central Americe,they give an extra opportunity to the wrong people to get easy acces in your car.When I lived in Panama I noticed people had created the weardest anti burglary systems on sliding windows

PS I have some rack supports that I once ordred and never used,can't think of the name of the company right now.Whell take a look at the them when you get here you will probably recognise them.

Yeah I've thought about that a lot...not creating any more opportunities to steal. Just thinking if I can't get AC installed or it went out, I was wanting cross breeze. Security is probably the wiser choice. Great on the rack supports, can't wait to see them.

Which Winch???

I know I want WARN...name brand recognition I know. Question is should I go with a newer one, maybe even the one off our T4R...



or

An older classic like this...



Is there a better choice for doing your own repairs or is the decision based on what your bumper will hold???

Also Synthetic or Cable??

Remember you will be winching a fully loaded vehicle in less than optimal condition.Temperature and humidity is super high so a 12000 pound winch should be the minimum.Most guys I know in Central America are running the Warn 16.5 thermo winch on there bigger rigs because all the rest fails after a while.If you really want to get to the remote mountain villages you better be prepared.If you stay in populated areas with other vehicles around you can put a 9.5 on it and use a snatchblok and if it fails start walking until you find someone to set you free

BTW I had an aftermarket A/C installed in my 40 in Panama and it costed me less then a 1000$ everything brand new using parts they have overthere so no problems if something fails.
