I just got an email back from http://www.autoupholsterykits.com/, and they quoted me this:

"Full Main seating floor area up to 2nd row seats - $169.00
Cargo Area, rear deck & wheel wells - $159.00
Full main floor and Cargo area - $279.00
Complete kit inluding panels, etc - $309.00"

Not sure exactly what is included with the complete kit (panels?), but I will find out. The prices quoted above are for "nylon cutpile" which he is sending me a sample of. He is also sending me a sample of an upgrade called "Essex Plush Grey". I will keep you posted on quality and ease of instalation (if I decide to go with it). I'll post some pics too!

Looking for carpet myself. Let us know what you discover. I was planning on just getting a piece of marine carpet and seeing what I could do. However, easier is better.

I was thinking that too, untill I removed the old carpet. I think I would have a very tough time making it work, though it may be worth a shot to save some $$$. I'll update this post when I get some more info about the kit.

This guy is going to get a lot of calls if he's on point. Please keep us informed.

hey i got my carpet online and i just googled around until i found one, cost me 400 for nice carpet w/ tail gate piece. I am getting it installed thursday so i'll snap some pics and show you what it looks like, i also got all my seats re-built and done so it should look sweet.

i'm interested. let us know if his brown is the dark chocolate or the lighter brown that went with the poo brown interior.

It still confounds me that there are no aftermarket supplies of oem quality replacement carpet that matches the texture (loop pile) and matches or at least closely approximates the oem colors.

I suppose it's because land cruisers are low volume to begin with and even lower volume when it comes to aftermarket stuff.

Not much turn around buisness if folk's are replacing carpet every 20+ years. I took the carpet out of the trail rig just plan on rollin on some bedliner material.

i'm interested in the results of this too. pics are mandatory! :]

Y'know, when I replace my s***ty JTO carpet, I'm going to unstitch every piece of the individual sections, remeasure them so they will fit the truck, and then take the pattern to an auto upholstery shop so they can do me up some carpet right. Then it's scotch guarding and the whole nine to keep the s*** nice.

I got a quote from another "Custom" interior place over on the East coast. They quoted me $425 for the four piece set, and the guy told me to go to www.accmats.com to look at the type of carpet they can do (80/20 Loop and Cutpile). Not sure if this is a molded or sewn kit, but I will find out. EDIT - Looks like it's molded.

I also got another email from another company (www.autoreplacementcarpet.com) that said they can make a cut/sewn carpet for $410. And they sounded very confident they could match the stock color.

I have requested carpet samples from both of these places, and as soon as I get them all in I will try to take some good pics and post them. Then hopefully buy a new carpet kit :-)

In your original post you said that company's kit is "including panels". Is this referring to the tailgate panel, or even vinyl/carpet trim panels as well?

I'm not sure. I'm kinda waiting to get in all the carpet samples from about 4 or 5 different places. Once I get them all in, I'll pick the best one, then call that place and ask all the specifics. If it sounds good I'll go with that company regardless of price (to an extent). Looks like so far, they all are within about $100 bucks of each other, so quality is the deciding factor to me.

Is stock carpet cut/sewn or molded?

I haven't had stock carpet for a while, but IIRC it was molded. It'd be great to get molded carpet, but I've had a couple shops tell me that (if it's done right) sewn carpet is a way higher quality than molded carpet.

i personally went with the sewn carpet, material is awesome, had it professionally installed, look terrific. will snap some pics this weekend with my new seats put in.

IC - where did you get it done? about how much was the carpet? to install it? Let's see the pics! Thanks!

alot of 60 series have now became the offroad rig instead of the grocery getter or family truck, i know ther are still a few used that way but they are in the minority. So when a carpet gets so stained, mildewed, ripped, etc. it is just more feasible to take the entire carpet out and roll in some bedliner or use the plastic mat type floorboards.

lunyou

One of the places I'm looking into (can't remember the name) provides molded vinyl for anything they make carpet for, including our 60/62s.
