Hi all,

New member. Recently purchased a 1982 FJ60 that I intend to slowly bring back to life. It runs good but still needs to TLC. It's been in Alaska, Washington, Arizona and Tennessee.

I know I will be looking to the forums for answers to a lot of questions. I've attached a few photos for reference...

I also have a 2024 First Edition (in my avatar).

Happy to be a part of the group.

Dustin

I’d remove the aftermarket fender flares to get a clear look at any rust that might be hiding underneath.

Definitely. I peeked behind as much as I could and it seems decent. That said, I don’t really like them. Too bulky. But, I’ll need to find an alternative.

Are you wanting to keep fender flares? OEM are hard to find, expensive and usually with require a fiberglass guy to do minor repair. Ask me how I know.

Wow! Awesome looking rig. "slowly bring it back to life"??!! Looks like it's ready to go if you ask me. I recently purchased an 83 FJ 60 and need help desmogging it.

With the size of tire, I’ll need flares. After a brief internet search, I see they are hard to find.

It runs good. Definitely needs some work though. Rust spots, interior (headliner and wall panels), undercarriage, etc.

yep, bracket alone are about 250 from Japan. She said I found ran about $800 used. Would definitely need to repaint and some bodywork.

What's an FJ?
Its called an FJ62 landcruiser. The landcruisers started with the FJ description. J stands for jeep and F stands for the type of engine used which was almost unbreakable in the 70's. Started with the FJ40.

Us oldtimers were calling them FJs for years and then the cruiser came along and ruined it. ( ゚ー゚)
