Not really looking for an OEM match. Just want something that looks nice and is HIGH quality.

Yeah, the tailgate piece.
let us know the quality if it's worth it,need some carpet for my rig too.maybe some pics if you decided to order it.keep us posted on any out come, thanks.

I didn't end up buying the carpet, because more pressing mechanical issues needed to be addressed. I am still looking around, and if I do go with one, I'll keep you posted.

Anyone else find anything better & less $$$ than SOR?
Would rather spend my $ with some company who actually cares about customer service...

I am starting to think I might just try doing it myself using marine carpet. It seems like I could get all the materials for under $100. And I would use my old carpet as a template.

I don't think this is the optimum way to do it. But until somebody posts about a carpet kit that is close or equal to OEM quality, I think I would rather spend $100 and some time to get marginal results than spend $400 for marginal results.

I still have not yet decided. If I buy aftermarket, I think I will try one of the other places. I don't think the SOR prices are out of line. In fact, they are cheaper than some of the alternatives. But I would rather take my chances that one of the others is of better quality (or, as I said, I will just do it myself.)

that and anything else they're selling

Thanks for the heads up. Just took them off my favorites.

Too bad CCOT doesn't have the 'aussie' kits anymore.

I just got an email back from http://www.autoupholsterykits.com/, and they quoted me this:

"Full Main seating floor area up to 2nd row seats - $169.00
Cargo Area, rear deck & wheel wells - $159.00
Full main floor and Cargo area - $279.00
Complete kit inluding panels, etc - $309.00"

Not sure exactly what is included with the complete kit (panels?), but I will find out. The prices quoted above are for "nylon cutpile" which he is sending me a sample of. He is also sending me a sample of an upgrade called "Essex Plush Grey". I will keep you posted on quality and ease of instalation (if I decide to go with it). I'll post some pics too!

Any more word on this particular kit? I'm still contemplating cutting my own from marine carpet or shelling out for this...

cutting your own carpet

I got a large piece of remnant at a great price...free! it was residential but good grade loop ...i pulled out my old carpet flipped it over in the drive way and used as a template, marked and cut the new stuff and put it in.If you do this I recommend making the hole for the stick shift a little small first...u can alway cut it larger...but if you make it too large u will be looking at cut..frayed carpet that sticks out from the stick shift boot. Took the rear cargo and tailgate piece to an uhpolstery shop and for $100 they put trim on the edges and glued to the tailgate carpet to the panel. It looks alot better. But I had to make relief cuts for the transmission hump. I would suggest if you are thinking of "marine carpet" ...unless you are wheeling in lots of creeks... I would look for a nice piece of loop pile remnant instead. I left old cargo area carpet in place under the new as padding. I pulled the plastic pieces off the old carpet where it runs under the door thresholds and though I would try attaching it to my new carpet but opted not to bother. the new carpet seems to stay in place just fine w/out it.

Hey sorry it took me a while to get back to you guys i have been flying around.

Anyways,
-Seats were rebuilt and reupholsterd in Cd'a ID for 1200.
-Carpet with tail gate peice, (sewn) was $400
-Instalation done in town by Mountain Upholstery for $150, which included labor and materials, aka better carpet pad/glue/ect.

I will take some pictures on sunday when i install my seats back in. Can't wait.

Idaho Cruiser, where did you buy that carpet you had installed that you were so happy with? Did you buy it online and then have Mountain Upholstery install it for you? Or, did Mountain Upholsery supply the carpet in addition to installing it?

I am trying to figure out the best way to go.

That's what I have, and it's pretty crappy. However, given the fact that it was very likely never scotch guarded, odds are that it'd be in much better shape now than it currently is. I won't fault JTO for the quality, as it is NOT made by them. They send out the order to a company in Socal that makes it to order.

Personally I think the quality is pretty crappy. It took a great deal of work to get it lined up right, and the front section was just barely too narrow to fit easily in the truck once the seats were installed. OTOH, an old neighbor of mine bought a set for his pig and absolutely loves it.

any updates on these carpet projects? anybody install the cut & sewn carpet from

http://www.autoupholsterykits.com/ ?

doesn't seem like there are any molded kits available except from SOR, JTO and MAF, and everyone said they were unhappy with those three particular carpets (the quality).

Im currently awaiting my product (special color order).

does anyone make a heavy duty vinyl mat that replaces the front half or all of the interior carpet?

I think I have decided to go with this company's carpet, because they have been specializing in just auto carpeting for 60 years and they have done a lot of celebrety's cars. I am beginning to think that cut and sewn might have some advantages over molded carpet. I think that process might lend it self to more rugged carpet. and I don't think having a few thin seams here and there is a big deal

http://autockm.com/index.html read the "Testimonial"

still won't decide until I get my carpet samples from them.
