Thanks for the info @4WheelUnderground and @sorensenjg, that helps!

I also noticed you're running a Y-link steering setup. Any reason you didn't go for crossover steering? Oh yeah, we're gonna need pics of the mounts/links at the rear of the frame too

I'm hoping to get Justin vehicle in December to build shock morning for everyone. For now what he did is an option.

The y-link seemed to fit the application better for draglink/panhard symmetry. We tried crossover and it can be done, probably more suited for slees double sheer setup.

I will get some shots of the frame side lca mounts.

You'll have to ask Justin. I haven't seen any pictures of full compression of both sides to know if he set it up like I would. He also hasn't adjusted the coilovers they way I suggested. So at the moment he isn't using his dual rates. We'll see what happens when he does. But even without it he only touches his bumps, he's not riding on them at all.

When/if going to this extent, think I'd opt to discuss internals with Glenn, due to lack of real estate on primarily slow speed crawling.

Not nitpicking, but the video highlighted what I found to be a constant irritation, so swapped out (on a different platform) to 1.5s.

So where are the kits at?

I think we need a better explanation of what you're talking about. I am certainly a little lost on what you mean. Can you tell us your platform and circumstances around your experience?

Delancy, what did you find problematic with touching the bump stops? If you soften them up with less pressure there really shouldn't be any issues touching and compressing them. I would rather have a 4" with less pressure to ramp up over a longer distance than a shorter bump that has to be run at higher pressure.

IFS long travel front and same basic Toyota 5 link rear.

Audible irritation. :)

The whole "race car parts make race car noises" crowd can kiss my ass, too. I wouldn't run bypasses because of the irritating clicking on a DD, either, to qualify.

I respectfully disagree with your preference, based on a bump being a bump, not a secondary shock.

Personally, I think they're a waste of time and money on any intended for slower speed crawling that's still street able and a Timbren, even a upper coil bucket Jounce for those that insist on hydro, suffices for the same.

And again just for clarification Justin is kissing the bumps not compressing them or riding them. After speaking with him just a moment ago he was unaware that they even came in contact.

Based on the video, he's on a smooth streets and why I asked about.

Glenn shortened 2s to 1.5s and it's about ideal.

Functions as a bump, only, and never contacts until off road.

I'm not sure what your point is, Delancy. Are you just really trying to drive home the idea that shorter bump stops would be better? Sometimes reading your posts makes my head hurt.

So I found out Justin is running about 4 " of compression travel. He could of set it to 5" but would have had to do much more fender trimming that he didn't want to do. This would help in not contacting the bumps on the street. I also found out that the video we are watching was him NOT taking it easy or casual.

I'm waiting to see what happens when he starts using his dual rates. Maybe we can coax him to take the same video and compare the two.

Well to answer the question at hand.. this is the entire reason i opted for air bumps. I have used standard poly bumps on past rigs and couldnt stand when the suspension would max out resulting in a hard bump. Since installing these, it has probably been one of the single greatest mods i have ever done. On road, you cannot feel or hear anything from the air bumps.. even if they are making contact. As well as, offroad it feels smooth until the air bump is maxed out then a nice transition into body roll. So with comparison in mind, night and day difference, even when rock crawling. Just my 2 cents.

I will do my best to roll those jam nuts down and get another video posted asap. I would love to see the difference as well.

They're expensive little fxxxers, but you're description is the reason I'd be considering air bumps. I freaking hate the feeling of hitting a poly bump.
