Hello sirs, I hope your cruise controls are all working well still and you never had to think about this again... however if you happen to spot this thread, I would appreciate some help with identifying what I would be plugging the sensor into. First the ground work:
1990 HDJ80R 1HDT Auto VX (Aus). I've in years past done all the cruise control diagnostics and determined it had no speed input (no change in flashing lights between sub 30km/h and above).
Motor and servos were tested working on a bench.
Seems that at some point the speedo cable was replaced with one that doesn't have the sensor at all... a thing I only recently became properly aware of.
As all of you would have done, I checked for the part number and find it discontinued, then stumble on this gem of a replacement option, YESS!!
Like a few others though, I'm struggling to find where I'm going to plug it into.
I can locate the 'transmission wire' as I believe it's known, and can see that at some point that was modified, and high up on top of tranny I found a loose triangular plug, which I think has a blank making it 3 wires despite being 4 pin connector.
Seems like everyone's plug location is different in this thread, but wondering if anyone can give me at least a semi confident 'yea that would be it'.
Then the challenge will be reaching up there to snip off the plug and either splice or installer new plug... really isn't much room to get up that high :\
Photos:
1. Speedo cable output with a converter to account for 35" wheels
2. 'Transmission Wire' most easily viewable and closest to the speedo output. Can see the broken wire and the splice-around.
3&4. 2 views of the loose plug I see tucked away further up on the tranny. On the complete opposite side to where the speedo output is - hence not sure if this is what I'm after or just some random loose thing that is perhaps made redundant by some modified transmission wire harness.
Bonus points: If anyone can tell me what that triangle connector is, I can just plug a new male connector on to it and run as much extension as I need... It looks like it's probably this?:

Thank you!
