Has anyone disassembled completely their cruise control actuator and then reassembled it - and it worked fine? Mine was really ugly with corrosion and I just had to do it. I discovered it is quite an assembly of engineering workmanship inside. A small jewel of gears and contacts. Mine is back together now and very nice looking, but I wonder if there is more to it than just reassembly, as in alignment of gears and contacts?

Not in the cruise control assembly itself, but the actuator cable needs to be hooked up and adjusted so that the throttle end way across the engine compartment at the throttle body is neither tight nor loose in relation to the throttle cable.

I agree with you on that. Any slack in that cruise control cable will for sure be a problem. But I am really curious about the inner workings of the device. Those of you that have looked closely at yours might have noticed a small rubber flap that allows access to the interior for a screwdriver or Allen key. I wonder if Toyota used that flap for some type of adjustment, but I can't find any info on the actuator.
