There's a new alternative to the mega bucks hardtop roof weatherstripping, also known as "Packing, Roof Drip Moulding", OEM part #63168-90307. City Racer LLC (my Sig below) sells an OEM-equivalent weatherstrip with the exact OEM pattern -- and it only sets you back $165.

It would be nice if the 7/72 seal fit 73-74 doors.

I seem to recall it'll work, do a search, because I believe I got a reply with pics in a different tread.

I'll try to find it when I'm at a computer.

I remember that thread. Even the photos. I thought it was the later door seals. I had it reversed. Thanks.

Great list. Just some clarifications on the unobtanium parts:

68210-90801 WEATHERSTRIP, FRONT DOOR GLASS, OUTER, Left, 1981-1984, Unobtainium

68160-90301 WEATHERSTRIP ASSY, FRONT DOOR GLASS, INNER, Right, 1976-1984, $9.26
- These four are for the late model front doors with the 1/4 window. The unobtanium ones are available from Australia.

Here are the part numbers for the ones without vent windows.
68160-90802 WEATHERSTRIP, FRONT DOOR GLASS, OUTER W/O VENT WINDOW
68160-90300 WEATHERSTRIP ASSY, FRONT DOOR GLASS, INNER W/O VENT WINDOW

In addition to the upper run above, there is a part listed for the lower run as well.

The 1/4 vent windows have an additional weatherstripping listed as:
68175-90300 WEATHERSTRIP, VENT WINDOW FRAME

The side vent (hinged) window weatherstripping is not "handed". The unobtanium one below can be swapped for the one that is still available.
62798-90801 WEATHERSTRIP, SIDE VENT WINDOW (for hinge type), 1981-1984, Unobtainium
62797-90800 WEATHERSTRIP, SIDE VENT WINDOW, 1976-1984, $53.16

Under Misc. the unobtanium one is available from Japan.

VV,

quick note on the amby doorseals 68291-90301 and 68292-90301. in europe i paid 69 eur (or 75 US) per seal. Also I thing 68201-90300 is interchangeable. But was harder to find and much more expensive 180 euro or 194 US

Does anyone have photos of the OEM roof gasket (packing, roof drip moulding) for the troopy? I believe the part # is 63168-90308, but I'm not completely sure. The part is obviously discontinued, but I'm thinking that I can make it. If anyone has an old sample I can borrow, that would definitely seal the deal (pun intended).

I'm working on coming up with weatherstripping for the soft top doors.

Did you ever come up with a good source for this? All I can find is some on $OR's site, and it's for the front, I need it for the rear soft ambulance doors. Looks to be the same, but there has to a be a cheaper source than $50 for 4 feet of it.

Does anyone know the differences in the 4 part numbers listed on the EPC's for the front windshield? More specifically, can I replace 56121-90300 (NLA) with 56121-90301? The 4 part numbers I found are 56121-90300, 56121-90301, 56121-90302, and 56121-90303.

Anybody know if these are interchangeable?

EDIT: According to Beno, these are interchangeable. I still don't know why there are different part numbers.

Has anyone purchased the packing for the rear corner door pads from SOR? Toyota part numbers are 65898-90301 and 65899-90301. SOR part numbers are 108-71AR and 108-71AL. These are NLA from Toyota. I was a bit dissapointed when I received these. They are made of closed cell foam. The right hand pad was about 1/8" thick with an adhesive backing. The left hand pad was about 1/16" thick with no adhesive backing.

They also don't have the exact same design as OEM. The back of the SOR pads are completely flat, while the OEM pads were contoured to better fit the door frame.

@Wes I have purchased those pads. There must be a defect with one of the pieces you received, because both of mine are the same thickness, and both have adhesive backing.

The OEM piece is quite thin, and has some kind of pocket contour in the back. It's also made of foam, although it's similar to the door weatherstripping foam.

I've actually been playing with these pieces. I've made two prototype versions. One in foam, and one in rubber. Both are thicker than the SOR version. I've been debating which material should be used, and what's the right thickness. The rubber is more resilient, but it's also harder, where as foam compresses, and conforms better. I'm still trying to figure out what was the original intent of the Toyota engineers.

56121-90300 and 56121-90301 are different in that 90300 is designed for 5mm thick glass and 90301 is designed for 6.7mm thick glass. I've got one of each as 90300 is still available here in the GCC region. 90302 and 90303 are, respectively, the same thing but with a piece of chrome metal molding cast into the seal. You'll find a lot of those original on the trucks in the region here... but the replacements are NLA.

Great thread-this job is coming up SOON for me so really appreciate all that folks have shared. Will be happy to share my experiences with my 10/78 40.....................

Has anyone tried the CCOT "best" seals?
Says they are slightly thicker and of a more durable foam rubber...

I've just ordered some of @Racer65's weatherstripping at his site (CityracerLLC.COM)instead of OEM parts. It'll be a while before installing.

Anyone else with experience with these parts? This is what I was hoping for, a (hopefully) quality 3rd party replacement for these parts that won't be available forever. Thanks Racer.
