Can someone let me know if the OEM color of the FJ40's roof is a bright white or is it an off white? My rig has a body matched color roof and I would like to return it to the OEM color along with the front bezel as well. I'm keeping the wheels black.

Sure I did as I always do. Found a thread that debates the roof color code that apparently was never settled. So if you don't know that's ok. Seems it is ultimately user preference?

Yeah, that's what I recall after looking at the threads on roof color. There was a point (maybe 78 and later?) where I think the color changed slightly, but I can't be sure without looking it up again.

No one knows...
I've never seen someone say the color code is whatever.
Ive seen lots of educated guesses, but no proof.
My guess is cygnus white. But I doubt thats accurate because my original paint 78s top and bezel are not the same color. The tops seem to be a plain ol white...

Just go with the PPG cygnus white. It is a good match and even if it is off it can be duplicated if you ever need paint.

Will do. Thanks! Cygnus white works for me.

Two weekends ago, I ordered up some Cygnus White paint from my local NAPA. The paint guy was able to find it based on the code I gave him. I'll post up pics of the top once I get around to painting it. In the middle of prep / priming right now.

Well that’s not true. The color code charts in the early FSM’s name it as T302 Shell Ivory.

Yes, you are correct, but what I am getting at is know one knows what color that is. So far, no shop has been able to mix it up due to it's age. And, like on my 78, there's no color code listed.

So when you get right down to it, the best anyone is going to get, is computer color matching an original.

DuPont LS123 is an excellent match and I’m pretty anal about these things.

Cygnus white on mine, mixed by NAPA.

That Cygnus white from NAPA looks real nice. That is what I will use on mine. Thanks!

Beautiful paint job. I have not seen Cygnus white IRL yet. Is it a basic white, bright white, or a softer white (more cream colored)? Due to the dune beige on my rig I would prefer a bright white so the roof stands out a little more than the body. If Cygnus (in your opinion) is bright enough then I will head to NAPA to get the paint. How much will I need for a proper application of my roof?

If you aren't certain about the color have them mix a small amount and test it out. I dont recall the amount, that was the body shops call. I have some left over. I did it because I thought it was the proper color for the restoration.

Is your leftover paint in an original quart can or a gallon can?

Rustoleum Biscuit, rattle can, and
