Middle row seat out of a Toyota Previa fits like a glove between the wheel wells. It is made to be removable in the mini van, so be sure to get the floor mounts for it when you are at the scrappers.

I went this route and the seats are actually pretty reasonable. Triple X seats in phoenix. they will build them to any width you like. my kids fit perfect!

adding to an old thread's ok .... making a new thread about it would have been the 100'dth :)

I HIGHLY recommend getting a Rear Bench Seat from a JEEP Wrangler TJ (2003-2006) because they have the LATCH System, allowing for quick installation of a baby seat.

I also installed some stainless "D"-Rings just behind the bench in order to attach the top straps of the baby seat to. I used stainless steel bolts, washers, lock-washers, and big-ass fender washers with some JEEP LJ Brackets (TJ Brackets are great too, LJ were all I could find on eBay).

I really like the ability to easily fold-forward/remove the rear bench seat. Unfortunately, this setup will never truly be "safe," but definitely less-dangerous.

Good luck with the installation.

Does anyone know how this seat was mounted? Between the wheel wells or resting on top somehow?

MAD40er: Do you have any pictures of the Previa seat installed in your FJ40? If so, please post because it seems like a good option. What did you pay for the used seat? Thanks!

Rear Seats

Hi, I used the third row seats out of a nissan terrano / ford maverick (euro), they fit perfectly and even had a hydraulic cylinder that keeps them up when not in use. plus they can be easily removed using the donor car brackets. super simple to fit, the original brackets out of the donor car just need fixing to the floor at the front, and all they need is a hoop in the centre at the back to hold them down, cheers

I used the Little Passengers 3rd row as well. It sits between the wheel wells and has 3 integrated seat belts...2 shoulder belts outboard and a lap belt in the middle. I found it on CL for $70.

My 3 kids are 12, 10 and 8. the boys (12 and 8) are skinny little bean poles...all three still fit comfortably.

I'd like to up-grade to a seat that sits atop the wells with 3 belts, in the future.

I know I'm dredging up an old thread--has anyone found a three-belt seat which will fit in between the wheel wells?

TJ seat would be closest, but it'd only leave about 14" per passenger... Since there is only 41" between the wheel wells.
