Yours is one of my all time favorite 40's

Gosh, thanks; it's a pretty tame build by Mud standards, there are many more here much nicer I always think.

Have a bikini top I bought from SouthBostonFJ40 years ago. Came from Eshan and made to fit the factory FST door headers and B pillar. Currently no FJ40 that doesn't have a hard top on to take a picture.

I enjoy my trollhole bikini that uses the bestop window channel, you have to drill holes.

I run an old Kayline bikini top. The top it self has nylon piping/welting sewn into the front edge of the top where it attaches to the windshield rail. The w/s rail is basically a square tube going along the length of the w/s with a slit in it. The rail bolts down into the factory holes. The top has to be slid into the slit from the side of the windshield. It will not blow out of the w/s channel at any speed, unlike Bestops.

A friend attached airplane fabric to the top bars of his full cage rollbar for a more permanent bikini top. It was very taut, like a drum, and it would not blow up like a balloon. No straps, no w/s channel. It wasn't anything that could be removed and reinstalled without re-doing the whole top. It was relatively inexpensive and fairly easy to replace if it was torn off.

I have too many bikini tops to count. But I just got my first one for my 40, hope to have it installed soon.

3 year follow up to this thread and my post, which has seen an increase in the number of bikinis in my growing collection, and finally got my bikini top installed in my ‘75 fj40.

You've brought that 40 a long ways from what you started with, nice work, good looking cruiser!
Thanks! It was a ton of work, so that means a lot. Sometimes I can’t believe the transformation myself…it was very rough when we got it.
