Your last picture is just awesome if I can say so without dating myself/revealing my age.

I think a darker gray to match the door panels would be nice. . . but then again remember this is coming from the guy with the two tone transmission cover :).
Haha thanks. I think your Trans cover looks good with all the seats and stuff in now.

Well I sold my 80. I could have kept her if I really wanted but I felt like I was working on vehicle's too much having 2 cruisers. So a fella flew into town to buy her. When he saw it pulling up to the airport pickup he was all smiles. I got the cash, and the 80 is on its way to another state and warmer climate. Now I have some money to help offset a paint job on the 40.

Got all the rear lights wired up. I used factory like bullet connectors I found on eBay mostly. For wire I used this simple double strand black and red wire roll I got off of eBay as well. I have also been using the braided wire look as I think it looks nice. Here are some links in case someone likes the materials I'm using:

The wiring will be laid down a little better with zip ties and such, but it's pretty much done.

Despite the modified tunnel my carpet fit pretty good still. I'm going to make a new set of floor mats, for now i got my trusty old gray mat. When my father bought my cruiser for me for 400 bucks it had these two front mats that were part of a carpet kit from manafre. I spent most of my money on getting the cruiser up n running as a teenager so these mats were all I had for floor mats. When I graduated high school, a bunch of my relatives came out, so me and my close family and friends took my visiting family wheeling. On the trail was a river crossing that was pretty deep that year due to the high amount of runoff. I thought i could make it and gave it a go. Half way through the mighty 2f died. I had no top or doors. As i sat in the drivers seat the fast current went through one door opening and out the other. The water was over my lap. When I finally got out of that mess, the box of blue shop towels in the back was still their but all the towels gone. And the passenger floor mat was gone but the driver mat stayed on board and sits their to this day although pretty beat looking. Also my brand new cb in the center console was toast.

In addition I found a body shop. It's kinda d of tucked away. On my test drive route I've noticed this auto body shop a fee rows back off the main road. Once in a while I see a nice cruiser of some sort their. So I called them up and scheduled a estimate. Real nice guy, just him and his wife run the place. When I asked if he thought my front clip paint was faded or if it could be blended, he walked into his shop and a minute later emerged with a front fj40 fender painted the factory blue lol. Anyway, my cruiser goes in for paint in about a week! So I gotta get the flares mocked up and the holes drilled b4 paint. I spent a while getting them in the right spot for the right look. I'm using my old flares as mockup, I have new ones. My question is, should I paint my new flares blue or leave them black? What's your guys opinions? The truck will be painted with the same blue and stripe.

Which ever way you go will look good your truck looks great If you go blue it's going to blend in and be less noticeable black will stand out more but will match the top I vote for blue

I look the look of blue but how will the paint hold up when those flares are rubbing off things when you wheel it?
That is a valid concern. Another option is to run without flares period, but I think flares with bigger tires give a nice 3rd dimension to the quarter panel.

If it were me, that alone would cause me to leave them black.

Drilled very carefully. This took a while. As mentioned I messed with finding the perfect flare location. The best look to me actually was the easiest to locate in the end. I simple flexed the suspension like crazy and parked it. Then with one of the back tires at full stuff I centered the flare perfectly while at full stuff. Then at ride height it just looks like a natural location to me.
