Could one put the 17" FJ Cruiser wheels on a 40? What sort of problems, if any might one encounter?

Yikes, thats umm. Ya , no...

Why not go with a nice american racing rim, or a weld, or centerline. Maybe even some early to mid 90's tacoma rims. The wheels just look too bulky in that photo. I think there is a pic of a cruiser with them on it somewhere around here though, I recall seeing it.

This is a link to show tacoma rims and the last post is linked to one with FJC rims.

Hope that helps.

Clarification

It's the black steel wheels - more for road comfort purposes than 'glitz and glam,' as my ladyfriend puts it.

So there shouldn't be anything mechanically wrong with the wheels on the rig (disregarding the looks, which have been noted)?

Since we have an actual pic, I'll be the 1st to say, they don't look bad. Not the best looking looking wheel for an FJ40, but not completely disgusting. On an SUA rig up to 35's there may be no clearance issues either. I think it is also dependant on the color of the rg as to how they look. For some reason red doesn't fit them well. Hell if you can get some take-offs, go for it!

The FJC steelies will be okay as well, but are somewhat tough to come by. Fittment with steering may take spacers, but brakes shouldn't be an issue.

Hmmm.... Well I like it
