The spacers on my FJ40 disc brake conversion are 1/4” but the stock studs simply pass thru the spacer . Every thing then just bolts up as stock.

Can't you remove the spacers and knock out the factory studs, then replace them with longer ones? I think all you need to clear the calipers is .25" spacer unless that won't work with your wheels offset. I think I would source longer studs if you intend to keep those bolt on spacers. If they're too long, cut them flush once the spacer is re-installed.

I opted to do both. In the past I ran 15x8 steel rims with a 4" backspace and used 1/4" spacers. I was also considering running aluminum mags with the same dimensions. The mounting surface was thicker than the steel wheels, so I installed longer studs too.
