windshield frame is notorious for having rust under the weatherstripping that will need to be addressed.

It looks to have been replaced, at least the seal looks better than others, so hopefully can reuse temporarily.

Going to pull all, now, just in case there's more to address than a little surface rust.

Have a stack of product guides of various rubber profiles and corners ( about 2 1/2-3') high to pilfer through at next trip over.

He claimed a product that would fit as well as any ever produced exists, just takes time to figure out which ones.

We'll see.

If that is the case, we have a huge need for the rubber that holds the fixed piece of glass in our rear doors.

The one replacement available to us is not 100%...

I have my old, dried-up, cracked originals we could mold from.

The two are very much inter-related on the Pig...

At least the windshield and rear quarter glass (or cargo area glass) are closely tied to the headliner.

You have to remove those 3 pieces of glass to remove and replace the headliner.

Mine was partially removed already. Haha.

Pulled enough to see roof condition was extent so far.

Glass is coming out, for sure, even if I have to reinstall and pull again.

I'm not sure after reading your plan if the Pig will be indoors during this tear-down process?

Yes, until epoxy primed it will.

After epoxy primed, it potentially may be exposed to the elements.

As for the headliner, I am kind of surprised that you are even questioning it, given your deadicated approach. The headliner is one of the few things we can buy new for our Pigs (SOR/Cruiser Corps/other) for not a whole lot of $ (all relative). As are winshield gaskets and cargo glass rubber (these are $$$, but not more than the fixed rubber glass).

I would pull the glass as soon as you want to pull the headliner and yes, I would put in a new headliner. Adds a nice touch...

Y'all are probably right and I'm sure that drastic a departure would've eaten me up.

It's more for a utilitarian approach and general maintenance, so to speak.

It appears the headliner is fragile inherent to its design/construction, but not like there's many heels being dug into from the back seat, these days.

Guess that's what the mortgage was for was to eliminate that possibility.?.?.?

My guess is that even if there were, we wouldn't hear you complaining about it!

:grinpimp:

No, you wouldn't, and for another chance at feeling young(er) I'd gladly patch the hole.

once primed then tape heavy clear plastic over the opening ...

Along the lines of my thoughts.

Had a 71 LTD that I bought for $1 in around 91-92, that had similar on the rear and remained for the three month duration I drove it, so think it'd suffice for this, too.

Best riding car I've ever owned, driven, rode in.

Another eBay fail.

My small project of stripping the seller described "freshly rebuilt" alternator discovered that it's not rebuilt, only painted.

Brush holder is cracked.

Didn't know that NipponDenso sourced bearings from Korea

And I can't get the rotor freed from frame for love nor money.

Now a potential dumb question.

Is the offset of the pulley behind the nut to balance?

Brushes do extend 7mm, so they may be new, but the holder is going to need to be replaced.

All this because I didn't like the "Reman" sticker on the one I had. Maybe I should've hit up Metric for a new sticker instead of going to this trouble, but going to be rebuilding this one....unless someone here is a psychologist and can help me with this sickness....

Edited: disassembled rear heater. Motor will need some attention and still unsure what the best method to remove the scale, yet leave sticker intact it, plus unsure if there's a coating to protect after.

Not Pig, related.

The Pink Panty 80 had been feeling a little neglected and just the boy and I for a few days, so rainy Sunday, head to the rocks to fool around. Not a soul here, so no real wheelin', but a few poser shots since getting the new suspension 90% done.

Oddly, doesn't rub anywhere, to my surprise.

No spotters and anything here worth wheeling requires. C'est la vie.

Honestly think he enjoys climbing on the rocks himself, more than in the rig. Haha.

Wow, I leave town and you get rain and cooler temps. Whats up with that!

Trying to read all these posts but darn job interfering.

Nice Beno quote ''ball sack hot" and its pretty much fall there right now compared to the past few years.

Congrats on the pig, keep the pics coming.

quick hijack...

does the windshield come out like the rear cargo glass, and go back in using the rope technique?

yes. if you have chrome trim, pull the trim being EXTREMELY careful not to kind/bend the crap out of it, then proceed. if no chrome trim, yeah! go to town

they sell the proper tools for removing and replacing the chrome. ... well worth the investment.

The last five years have been odd.

Last year at this time, the entire state was a wildfire. Today, I heard an urban flash flood warning on KRMG....in the middle of July. Weird.

Hope COs treating y'all well!!

When are you coming bank through town?

From the first day, I noticed the lack of chrome on mine.

Not saying I'm a chrome fan, but it is what it is, so are there resources (hahahaha) for the chrome windshield frame?

Did score an SOR windshield seal in one of the boxes in the 71 parts pig I picked up today.

Think a glass guy would have? Doubt I can find anyway.

we may have chrome side and windshield gaskets and trim very soon ;)
