I can send you a pic of my collar. Email me your cell number and I will text it to you. My email is mfunk26@hotmail.com

Really could use some nice brake lines on the firewall too. Mine look like crap that I bought.

You do awesome work. Wish I was as far as you.

Mark

$pector has an aftermarket collar, see page 46 of their catalog.

THIS is why I didn't know it needed a collar.
Am I missing something?
It doesn't show the collar. Just the flange and gasket.

The stack up in my Cruiser NEEDS the big fat collar.

My mistake, I thought you were talking about the flange, sorry. PS enjoyed reading your thread.

Some Cruiser candy... Finally.

Rainman. In your diagram above of the exhaust the collar is item 1.

No. That's the gasket. The "collar" is a big fat donut. I've never actually seen one but I know Toyota discontinued this item and the stack up between the manifold and the down pipe needs a lot more than the small gasket.

Pics look great. Too bad you aren't leaving that license plate on there.

Yeah... But like I said, I'll miss this truck when it's gone but that won't last long. The '32... Face it... it's a lot cooler!

I've been corrected. (No wonder I've never seen a collar.) There isn't one. The down pipe slides up into the manifold and traps the gasket against the machined step inside. That makes perfect sense. Another reason to call the muffler shop and get some money back. They not only ruined the flange, they did the whole job wrong. I'll live with the rear half though.

Very NICE!

When ever you want to send it up here for some patina before it goes to your buddy let me know :)

I do not know how long that offer will last... So... Discuss and let me know LOL

Great job on everything !!!

Btw we will need to see some outdoor completed pictures as well :)

That is truly cool , no problem with going astray with a story like that . Some people really shine when oppressed , evidently he's one of those rare characters , kudos to Reggie .

Now THAT is a car!! That thing is beautiful--no wonder he's now a design engineer---

I
I got carried away and put the assembly together before I thought to shoot that and the gasket.

If you plan to do the same on your truck, I have a spare gasket.
I have three of these, if anyone needs them---just shipping

One bright day in the middle of the night...

Oops.

Yesterday, I bit the bullet and trailered 2NDCHNC to the muffler shop after two friends made good references to them. Getting a fair amount of comments and stares at the truck, I got some help and we rolled the brakeless (for the time being) and powerless Cruiser off the trailer and into the shop. I handed the "special" flange to the man after showing the owner how it fit and handed them the hardware. I was right to think there would be no WAY they would have metric nuts and bolts there. At least not m10 x 1.25. So he begins work, slowly making his way out the back. Decent job except the welding is a little crappy. We get the Cruiser rolled onto my trailer straight off the lift. I'm about to strap it down when the man says, "Here's the bolt you gave me. It doesn't fit."

"Yes it does."
"No it doesn't. The holes don't line up."
"Yes. It does. You have the flange up side down."
"No I don't."
Yes!.. You do."

Now... They don't cut the flange off, the torched it off. So know the stack up when I put the collar and gasket in won't be there. I told the boos I wanted to go on record that after I got the truck started and there ends up being a leak at that union, I will be bringing it back and they will do it over with new parts. And yes, the flange costs $50 bucks. (You should've seen the eyes on that person when I said that.)

Not a very happy camper, I loaded it up and brought it home. It does have an exhaust system now, I can finish getting all the fuel and heater lines plumbed, and with any luck, I can get this pwahty started soon.

For those who will read this far down, do any of you know where I can get the damn exhaust collar that goes just above the down pipe gasket? How in the world did I miss that getting ready? I've never heard of needing it. Toyota Overstock is out and said it's been discontinued. Where is there a source? $OR doesn't either.

I have a down pipe from my 77. Is this what you need?

Rainman, Frank Seaman here from early GSMTR days. Great build! Good to see ya well and wrenchin on a 40.
If you get over to WNC give us a call. I may need a set of lines in the future, my 12 year old daughter wants a 40 to drive, she drives the old Green Beast around the farm now.

Mrs Kennedy came by...

When she walked into the barn I thought she was going to fall down. Two things... I did't know how she would react and she didn't expect what she saw. I have no idea what she expected really. I'll ask her after she's had a while to digest it. She was beside herself really and I couldn't have asked for a better reaction. I told her that the truck would be running in a few days but she wouldn't be able to take it right away as I needed to drive it and make sure everything was secure and running right. She was so happy she didn't mind.

That's a load off...

That is an awesome response.
