One bright day in the middle of the night...
Oops.
Yesterday, I bit the bullet and trailered 2NDCHNC to the muffler shop after two friends made good references to them. Getting a fair amount of comments and stares at the truck, I got some help and we rolled the brakeless (for the time being) and powerless Cruiser off the trailer and into the shop. I handed the "special" flange to the man after showing the owner how it fit and handed them the hardware. I was right to think there would be no WAY they would have metric nuts and bolts there. At least not m10 x 1.25. So he begins work, slowly making his way out the back. Decent job except the welding is a little crappy. We get the Cruiser rolled onto my trailer straight off the lift. I'm about to strap it down when the man says, "Here's the bolt you gave me. It doesn't fit."
"Yes it does."
"No it doesn't. The holes don't line up."
"Yes. It does. You have the flange up side down."
"No I don't."
Yes!.. You do."
Now... They don't cut the flange off, the torched it off. So know the stack up when I put the collar and gasket in won't be there. I told the boos I wanted to go on record that after I got the truck started and there ends up being a leak at that union, I will be bringing it back and they will do it over with new parts. And yes, the flange costs $50 bucks. (You should've seen the eyes on that person when I said that.)
Not a very happy camper, I loaded it up and brought it home. It does have an exhaust system now, I can finish getting all the fuel and heater lines plumbed, and with any luck, I can get this pwahty started soon.
For those who will read this far down, do any of you know where I can get the damn exhaust collar that goes just above the down pipe gasket? How in the world did I miss that getting ready? I've never heard of needing it. Toyota Overstock is out and said it's been discontinued. Where is there a source? $OR doesn't either.
