Thanks! I appreciate your words and confidence in me. If we can come to some sort of agreement that I'll be working on his truck, I'll start a new thread and cover everything from the beginning.

Teaser...

I found a '74 FJ40 tub on Mud last night redone and in primer. I hope I can convince him of the savings and he buys it then store it until we're ready. THAT would be a perfect world... So we'll see. If the top he has is toast, I think the owner of 2NDCHNC (this thread) will sell him the brand new soft top that he's never installed. (Still in my basement.)

I know I've highjacked this thread and want to start a new one but won't just in case this new development falls through.... or changes. Let me explain:

The new guy(LM) is a busy man with his own insurance company and has young boys. You know, games, tryouts, lessons... "I've been slammed but promise I'll get the Cruiser to you when I can." Meanwhile back at the ranch, a new guy (I'll save his name for later) on Mud saw I was looking at a tub and said he has a '74 BODY he'd sell me for cheaper. I can't place his face yet but we met a few times at the GSMTR. So when two things happen: 1-New "customer" actually brings me his 40 to go over, and 2-I get pictures and a price on the "rust free" body, I'll make the proposal to LM for working on his truck. Now here comes the new wrinkle... What if LM balks because he doesn't want to spend what it takes to redo his truck? (I think from his photos that the truck is swiss cheese. Would he take a fair small offer for his truck and I buy it, rebuild it, sell it? make some money. I could take two years to do it. I'm about to refresh my two car garage into a larger insulated shop. Perfect first project.

Who thinks this is a good idea? Who would want a truck I built? Any and all comments welcome.

The question you are asking is - in either case, should I build a truck and get money for doing so. Yes! But is LM going to sell? Yes, but at what price?

I think the larger question is can you find a truck to rebuild?

Actually... The largest question is:

Can I convince the wife that this will be an investment. An investment with a potentially big return.
