Hello all! I’ve been on here awhile. Lurking, reading and giving helpful comments as I learn more. A little of my history. My first vehicle was a Jeep Wrangler, 05, and I was a tried and true Jeep guy. But then I bought a 2014 fj cruiser... and boy... did my life change... I was hooked! A few years later I bought an 85 fj60 that I brought from crawling off-roader back to almost a nice daily driver (still looked bad...) and now we come to today. I’ve sold the 60 and replaced it with the holy grail.. a 1977 FJ40, rust free from a little town north of Phoenix Arizona, a really good frame and body!! All it’s parts are there (or in the box) and a ton of extra parts... I call him cowboy..

I think it helps gas mileage too.

The trailer interest me as much as the 40.
Do you or are you planning on towing it with your FJ40?
I pulled 16 foot breeze for many years.
Easy lift weight distributing hitch with sway bar and the ride was smooth.

Looks like you are of to a good start so have fun with your new project.

Nice 40. Welcome to the mudness and hold on to your wallet and credit cards! But the extra stash of parts looks like you will be well on your way to a load of fun! Congratulations on a super score!

What's the original color? Looks like white or desert beige engine bay. And what's the story with the circle of holes in the hood?

Cool rig! Welcome to the crazy club.

The color code is beige (416), and the po put holes in the hood to get more airflow for the aftermarket carb that used to be in it.

So the po deleted some things.. no idea why.. so, I’m off to fix it! Does anyone know anything about a dash like this? I’ve not seen a step down like this before. As far as I can see it’s original, just covered in bondo.

Looks like the PO bought bondo in 55 gallon drums.
The 'step' on the lower portion of the dash is OEM. The lower dash pad goes just below the lip.

I was starting to notice about the step. I was looking threw pictures online. It’s getting closer. Lol

Flipping the bezel is to speed and power, what spinach is to Popeye;)
