the wheel and tire combo is a 17" mickey thompson classic lock black II and a 295/70/17 nitto trail grappler tire.

and what do you guys think of the TRD OFF ROAD sticker on the windshield? :p

I had to sneak the pic in of my boy and dog up camping even though it's pre-lift/wheels/tires era!

What is the backspacing of those wheels? Did you have to use spacers?

No offense, but it's the same thing as an M badge on a non-M BMW, a VTEC badge on a non-VTEC Honda, AMG Mercedes, SVT Ford, S Audi.... etc.

I say it looks better without, but it's your rig!

great point! I've always got annoyed by those guys that make their rig out to be something its not. I guess I had seperated it in my head because the age difference its obviously not trying to just make it "a badge upgrade"

Very nice rig! Cool looking dog too. :)

You probably know, but there's a good market for the wheels and tires it came with. If you were closer I would have sent you a PM to see what you wanted for them.

Thanks!! its a llewellin setter, hell of a hunting dog! I think I'm gonna hang on to the steelies and hub caps, probably will bust off the tires and hawk them though.

lift

How about some info on your lift? Which lift? How much lift etc? It looks great! I ask because I am looking for a lift right now and like the stance of your rig!

absolutely! I went with the ccot HFS 4" lift, and 1.5 barbell shackles from them as well. went pretty smooth, just had some custom brakes lines made.

That truck is absolutely beautiful!!! OK, now that I have spent 3 years working on my diamond in the rough and have chiseled, sanded, broken and scraped off a lot of "rough" to reveal small amounts of "diamond", I would love to find a relatively un-messed-with, rust free FJ40.
Would it be vulgar of me to ask the purchase price? If I find a rig like this, ready to go or one line Eazzriders red barn find what is a reasonable real world market price? I know the answer will always be "it depends". There are plenty of stupid prices on ebay & Craigslist where someones finger got stuck on the $000,000,000.00 key.

dream done!

so I've had an idea of what I wanted to do with this before I even found this cruiser.... and I've finally finished with the wheels and tires and lift what I've been dreaming! I'm pretty excited.... but its a little different. I expect some to hate the look, some to love it. for those that hate it... :flipoff2: thanks for the feed back!! :grinpimp: the blue faux beadlocks are the final addition... I know, faux beadlocks... but hey, this truck turned out prettier and better condition than what I was expecting, so unfortunately no "extreme of roading" just pushing its limits lightly :hillbilly:, they should do the trick, and turn some heads while I'm at it!

That is a really nice cruiser.

What color blue is that? Is it original? My tub is coming back from the body shop next week and i need to choose a color; somewhere between the FJ Cruiser VooDoo blue and baby blue. Proffit has a web page with a blue restored one at the top that I like.

Sorry if this is mentioned further down, couldn't find it.

No worries.... It's the original blue that came on the 40's I believe from '75- to either '79 or '80. I don't know a technical name for the blue, but the paint code is 854. That's what I pulled up anyway to paint those rings to match. I absolutely love the blue, and it turns a lot of heads!!

And thanks for the compliments guys! I really love how it's turned out! I'm thinking next mods will have to be a roof rack, and some hard half doors. I'm kicking around either following the footsteps of some on here and fabbing my own, (how hard can it be?) ha ha, or like aquala.... They're just so damn expensive! Input and opinions would be great there and much obliged.

Also, technical side, I've been driving quite a bit today, I had been driving it for a bit, turned it off, fired it back up shortly after and it took a little longer to crank (it usually fires right up) then drove for a bit, turned it off again, then went to fire it up again shortly after that and got a pretty good backfire out of it..... Is this something I need to worry about? Its only done that one other time... That may be a dummy question, but thanks in advance for any knowledge and help there!

wow====that is a fine looking fj40====pretty country out you way!!!
great pic of your son and his dog!!!!
